To go to this salon, by myself?

I’m 21. I need a hair transformation, overdue colour correction and extensions fitted, stylist said this will probably take over 6 hours.

The guy that I’m going to is amazing, I follow him on Instagram and his balayage work is beautiful. I have waited so long to sort my hair out as salons near me (Coventry) couldn’t achieve his results

I wouldn’t normally mind going by myself, but I just feel anxious about going to a salon that I’ve never been to before for so long, and going alone. His salon is in Manchester so I’d need to make a day trip and drive up too.

I need my hair doing ASAP and my friends are busy when he has appointments, so it seems like I’ll have to go alone. Am I being silly to be anxious about going alone? Should I just find a more local salon?

Yabu to expect a friend to tag along, it’s a bit childish. Schedule appt at decent time so that you dont have to travel back late if that’s your worry. You dont expect a friend to sit there for the whole 6 hours, do you. It would be rather boring!
Are you concerned about safety ir just intimidated by going in alone?
Just go there by yourself and surprise your friends with your new amazing transformation;)

You need to stop worrying about what other people think of you and just get out there and do what ever you want to do. Life will be a lot more enjoyable. Its a life lesson thats hard for a lot of people to learn (me included) but well worth the effort.

Seriously. Since when going somewhere alone is considered weirdGrin I moved to a different continent by myself and used to love to take a bus to neighbouring cities. All by myself. It’s liberating, not weird!

Garlicansapphire · 09/10/2017 21:50

Weird - I've never been to the hairdresser with friends and since iI'm sometimes there for quite a while I really enjoy the time to read magazines, chat a bit and zone out etc. You don't sound very independent!

FlakeBook · 09/10/2017 21:53

It's definitely weird to take someone with you and it's weird to worry about going to a different city by yourself.

lostfrequencies · 09/10/2017 21:53

Sorry OP, also finding this quite bizarre.

bonfireheart · 09/10/2017 22:03

OP if you're in Coventry I can recommend a really good salon in Birmingham city centre. They did an amazing job with my balayage and cut. They have a loyal customer base and great feedback. Also they give you lots of drinks n magazines - or if you have the guy who did my hair he will happily chat to you about his holidays! Am happy to send you photos of my hair.

^^ Is a far better idea than Manchester or Preston.

Balyage is not some secret art. You will be able to find an equally good stylist in Birmingham.

Tatiana1986 · 09/10/2017 22:16

If it's Preston you're going to please share who's this marvellous hair dresser Grin I need to find one who knows what he's doing

bonfireheart · 09/10/2017 22:22

Might not be to everyone's taste but it looks better in real life than the pics!

As soon as I read you were going alone I thought ‘I bet she has no friends, what a weirdo’.
