Person A puts some veggie sausages in a frying pan in the hob for person B.

Busy chaotic lunch. Rushing to drop kids all over etc. Person B does a drop off, person A leaves Kitchen. Kids do dishwasher.

Lunch over.

Person B returns, takes the sausages out of the pan and eats them.

4 hours on...

Get home. Kitchen hot. Pan still on.

Who is in the wrong for leaving the pan on? A or B?

Person B is to blame as he/she was the person who took the sausages out of the pan, so should have turned the pan off.

HOWEVER... how long were those sausages cooking, for goodness sake?!

Both. Leaving an unattended frying pan on a hot hob is dangerous.

Both really but so not worth arguing about. They just for forgotten about - it happens. Presumably b assumed a had turned pan off and a assumed b would. No biggie.

I think person B as they were the ones to finish off cooking & take the food out the pan. They should of checked all was turned off before sitting to eat.

5 mins drop off for person B. Person A left room as Person B returned from drop off.

Sounds like they're both being a bit careless.

Person A shouldn't have put food onto fry and then left the kitchen and ignored the fact that they have left sausages frying.

Person B should have made sure the hob was turned off when they took the sausages off the hob; if the sausages were warm chances are the hob was still on, person B should have checked to make sure it was off.

Person B has form- 2 ruined saucepans from leaving 'poached egg' water on for hours.

Does this matter?

Sounds like person B is being a baby and saying "but you put them on."

Both. Person A shouldn't leave the pan on without explicitly saying to person B that there are sausages cooking for them and they are now responsible for the pan. Person B should clearly have turned the heat off when they ate the sausages.

Next time, both of you turn the pan off when you aren't there.

B left the pan on after they ate the sausages. They're most at fault but I don't think A was sensible for leaving the sausage in the pan unattended.
