To ask about your blonde lady moustache?

Bit of a random question and I'm almost afraid to ask people about it in real life.

I am naturally fair and as I am getting older, have been getting a few whiskers and a bit more hair on my upper lip. I have electroloysis every now and then for the stronger, whiskery hairs and a few of the ones from my upper lip but still have a covering of fairly downy blonde hairs in the moustache area. This mainly shows up if I'm under a strong light but is not visible in the way that dark hairs would be. Still I find myself looking at a lot of other women who appear to have completely smooth upper lips and presumably wax them. I would do laser in a heartbeat but as far as I know, it doesn't work on blonde hair.
Does anyone have any advice? Do you have a blonde moustache? Do you do anything with it?

I have it but it doesn't bother me. Humans are hairy folk and I don't want to do yet more grooming just to look socially acceptable.

WatchTheFoxes · 08/10/2017 15:36

Nothing, what's the point? It doesn't notice. There are far more noticeable things to be seen under bright lights (such as wrinkles, eye bags) which everyone has. You can't live your life in case some things are noticed in a certain light! Sounds bonkers to me.

Beamur · 08/10/2017 15:37

I'm not blonde, but my perfectly natural amount of top lip hair was beginning to look more noticeable, so I now have it waxed a few times a year. It hurts briefly, but not much. Regrowth is no darker or thicker, possibly finer and lighter. Doesn't bother me to see it on other women though.

SweeterThanThis · 08/10/2017 15:38

Op do the patch test before smearing removal cream on your face! I don't have sensitive skin but it burnt me! I only left it on for 5mins! I get my face waxed every 8weeks, along with my brows. My face could do with being done monthly but don't have time so I pluck in between. I find waxing so so painful though! Just haven't got used to it!

zukiecat · 08/10/2017 15:38

I have a very few, very fine, very fair hairs above one side of my lips, they’re barely noticeable and even if they were I wouldn’t do anything other than shave them as I don’t have the money for waxing, threading or anything else

I do have quite a few dark hairs growing out of my chin which I absolutely hate! I just shave them though when I see them sprouting.

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 08/10/2017 17:44

zukiecat you should pluck the dark chin ones; the length and strength of their roots will make you look like this Shock

Floellabumbags · 08/10/2017 18:41

Does anyone have a link to the springy things? I'm asking for a friend Hmm

OlennasWimple · 08/10/2017 18:47

Floella - if you put "epistick" into the Amazon search function you'll get loads of options

Floellabumbags · 08/10/2017 18:55

Thank you. In the description it says "perfect gift", that would be a great AIBU.

zukiecat · 09/10/2017 08:17

TheBus

Thanks, I’ll try that because I seem to be shaving them every day!

Coffeetasteslikeshit · 09/10/2017 08:29

WillowWeeping

I have it threaded and then pluck in between. I am always puzzled by women with thick but blonde taches- they're so noticeable when in bright light I wonder if they all have half lit bedrooms and just don't notice at home.

Puzzle no longer! In my case at least, I just don't care.

I just pluck mine and use nail scissors sometimes.....it gets worse as you get older lol

steff13 · 09/10/2017 20:05

I ordered this from Amazon. It works really well on my mustache, and I even used it in my daughter's unibrow last night.

Shockers · 09/10/2017 20:11

If you epilate, do you get spots? I've tried plucking my top lip but it got spotty, so I've just left it. I also have diggers that would make Amos Brierly envious. All white blond and as beautifully wafty as a muppet's hairdo.

CrispPacket · 09/10/2017 20:16

Shockers im totally with You! Epilating works a dream till the next day when I'm riddled with lumps/spots :(

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 10/10/2017 08:39

I find epilating only gives you spots the first time you do it. If you make sure your face is freshly washed before epilating, then splash cold water on afterwards it should be OK. Everyone's skin is different though.

Aridane · 10/10/2017 08:58

When I get my eyebrows waxed -not very often- I ask the beautician if my top lip needs waxing and get it done there and then if she says it needs doing, which is probably once a year. Meanwhile I tweezer out any bad ones.

Once a YEAR?!? Oh, if only...

justilou1 · 11/10/2017 10:43

I'm a natural blonde, and have that typical skin that goes with it - pale, reddened and highly sensitive. I haven't yet found a way to remove mine without causing hideous skin reactions that look worse than the bloody hair. I'm going to ask about medication!

Meanwhile - can someone please explain to me why the hair on my head grows so bloody slowly, I only need it cut once a year or so, but UNWANTED hair (Pits, bits, face, etc) grows so fast you can almost see it happening???

notagain123456 · 11/10/2017 13:52

use the eyebrow razors that they use for dermaplaning. The hair does not grow back thicker and spiky despite what they say. i have been doing it for a couple of months for nicer makeup application and its great

HouseworkIsASin10 · 11/10/2017 13:57

I shave top lip and bum-fluffy chin.

Doesn't grow back thicker. Just a quick go every couple of weeks.

DixieFlatline · 11/10/2017 14:03

My 'tache isn't blonde but quite dark, and I just bleach it every so often. I really couldn't give less of a fuck about people worrying themselves about some barely visible hairs on my top lip!

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 14:31

Blonde you are lucky Wink mines full on black Freddie Mercury job lol. Ok I’m dramatising but it is dark and has been since I was 14 I get my top lip and eyebrows threaded every 3-4 weeks. I’m
Lucky as even though my eyebrows are dark they aren’t overly unruly. Threading is a bit sorer than waxing I find but seems to last longer.

Lol tippz

amusedbush · 11/10/2017 14:43

I've tried waxing and threading but both gave me a terrible, terrible reaction that made me look like the fucking Joker for several weeks afterward. Full-on red, scaly rash that spread by the day Blush

My moustache is very fair and only noticeable in bright light and then DH will point out that my "walrus" is showing so I don't do anything with it now. More concerning is the jaggy black bristle that appears an inch long on my chin overnight Angry
