Am I being petty

Prepared to be unreasonable but I'm a bit annoyed. We are on a constant budget right now. This is relevant.

Dd Spots my money on the side which was to pay a bill. My only money in the house right now.

Dd: Can I have money I've not had breakfast.

Me: You should have got some. We have things in.

Dd: I've not got time and I'm out a long day today.

Me: Well you will have to take money from that then and I'll get some more but you need to make time to eat, we have stuff in. She has long days so needs breakfast.

An hour later rings me from a coffee shop having bought no food just coffee.
Lies that she thought I had heard her say coffee
Lies that she tried to get food but didn't have enough (school and the two places near school both do proper food for less than what she had.

Only a small amount but I'd love a fancy bloody coffee and haven't got money to waste on one.

She's now moaning that in me moaning at her she's forgot to connect to WiFi which is clearly the only reason why she went to the bloody cafe and has used all her data watching YouTube.

I have 15 yr old DD who does this and Ive had to come down hard on her and refuse to give her money. My girl is just lazy and needs to learn(is up a ready 1hr before she needs to get her bus which is 5 mins away and still doent eat breakfast or take her packed lunch with her sometimes then ring DH needing money) what we have has to strech and there is no room for frills, We certainly can't afford to be buying breakfast or lunch out when there is food in the house.

rookiemere PB on toast folded over into a sandwich is exactly what I do for DD Smile. Prob not uber healthy but yummy and quick. Muses 'is PB better or worse than Nutella...?'

Peanut butter ( if it's no sugar or oil added) on wholemeal toast, is actually a pretty healthy breakfast. Protein, slow release carbs and some fat to keep you full until lunchtime.
Also pretty cheap and probably a lot more appealing than make your own porridge.

Not petty at all. My OH pulls shit like this, he will often text me on my days off and ask me to bring him a take away/cash etc. To work despite me making sure there's always food in for packed lunch. He never takes his wallet to work either 🙄

Let him starve Steely.

Your his lover, not his mother, and he's a grown up. (Or take him a cabbage sandwich Grin )

Steeley113 · 06/10/2017 17:30

Believe me, he is told no unless I'm feeling very generous 😂

How much allowance does she get?

I do think she needs some money.

Those long life, individually wrapped brioche rolls are quite handy to have in to just grab (and cheap in aldi) if it happens again.
