I'm upstairs watching Netflix, home alone until midnight. I thought I heard the landline phone ring downstairs but by the time I had muted the TV it had stopped so shrugged it off.

I've heard it twice since then. No one rings the landline, ever. Ex directory, no sales calls etc and it's 9.30 on a Saturday night anyway.

No big deal you might think, so I went downstairs to ring 1471 out of curiosity.

The fucking phone is off the hook.

Doors are all locked etc so I can only conclude that there is a ghost fucking with me or Bad Girls has the same fucking phone as me!! Now hiding back upstairs and a bit jumpy, every car door slam is an axe murderer coming for me. Help!

The question no one seems to be asking is, why was the phone off the hook? Did you take it off....or someone else. ....

When my DC were tiny they had an electronic activity centre thing that played tunes/sound effects etc. It had a habit of playing by itself in the middle of the night [shocked]

Don't worry this happened to me once and I was terrified there was an axe-murderer fucking with me or something but in the end it was just a ghost haunting me.

Don't bother going down into the cellar - he's in the attic.

I thought it was because the view from the well was a circle of light peeking round the edges of the well cover. I'm in the dark on my phone so now scared as I'm lit up and can't see into my room! 😱

My phone makes a weird / very scary sound when it’s been left off the hook.

Once got woken up in the middle of the night by a loud and scary beeping sound. It turned out to be a combination of a power cut and the water going off causing of the power shower to alert us to the fact that it had a problem at about 3am. I had to cling on to DH in bed after that!!

Last night I heard a crashing sound come from the bathroom but I ignored it as I knew when I looked this morning, nothing would be out of place. Sometimes (when stressed) I hear someone banging frantically at the door or ringing the doorbell (I don't even have one), shooting outside my window or shouting in my ear.
It's called Exploding Head Syndrome, nothing to worry about!
