Currently pregnant with baby 2. First was a DS but our original girl's name (which DH had chosen) he has now decided is too common (as in there are lots of them at groups he goes to). He has now suggested another girl's name but I don't particularly like it. It is apparently quite a common Welsh name but I'm English, he's Scottish and we live in Scotland. I don't strongly dislike it but I like more traditional names.

Does it really matter? I suppose a name comes to fit the child. It is phoentically-spelt and I can't see any problems with it turning into an annoying nickname.

I really like Seren!

I wasn't overkeen on ds2 name when he was born.
We had 2 boys names and couldn't pick but I absolutely had my heart set on a particular girls name so I let exdh have his choice as that seemed fair.
Ds2 is now 7 and his name is totally him and I'm glad I let exdh get his way.

I can't help but add dipity to the name (it is pretty apart from that)

Seren is nice if it's pronounced properly. It is very popular in Wales but maybe not so many in Scotland.

I am not keen on Seren, especially if you're not Welsh.

I do like both Serena and Stella.
