By adding lashings of cinnamon: porridge, weetabix, apple crumble, curry, stir fry etc

Cinnamon is satan's poo crumbs.

Hate it. Even the smell is vile.

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 27/09/2017 20:37

No. If you must add cinnamon to something look at the amount on the teaspoon and half it. Then half that amount. And half it again. Then remove a pinch. Even then it might still be excessive.

You need to move to America OP, they're bloody obsessed with shoving cinnamon in everything.

Nutmeg on the other hand improves everything.

Bluntness100 · 27/09/2017 20:39

In apple dishes only. Never in savoury. Why the hell are you putting cinnamon in your stir fry? Are you pregnant? Cos that’s just odd. Go eat your sponges or something instead. Grin

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 27/09/2017 20:39

Although I like a little cinnamon in keema.

PodgeBod · 27/09/2017 20:43

Detest cinnamon and nutmeg. Nothing worse then biting into a fresh pastry to find it infested with the stuff.

Optimist1 · 27/09/2017 20:45

OP - you've made me yearn for cinnamon toast now (no bread in the house) or at least a Lidl cinnamon bun (not an option as Lidl now closed)! Damn you and your thread! Wink

Tartyflette · 27/09/2017 20:50

My vote would be for a knob of butter you know the saying 'add fat, add flavour'. --A knob of butter melting slowly on an omelette, a beautiful griddled steak, a boiled egg and soldiers (no, not a dippy egg, I'm not five) some steamed broccoli or asparagus, new potatoes, grilled fish....
Cinnamon is OK in moderation in sweet dishes like apple pie (but not crumble) or in cakes and pastries but it can be overpowering, and is even more so in curries, tagines etc.
To be used with discretion, preferably only in stick form for savoury dishes and never ever use 'cinnamon flavouring'. Rank.

MumsOnCrack · 27/09/2017 20:56

I'm like this with Nutmeg Confused

NeedsAsockamnesty · 27/09/2017 21:00

I think I need a sleep, I thought you meant add weetabix and porridge to all your meals and couldn't imagine much worse to eat.

Baked potato topped with porridge 😳

Bluntness Grin Grin

TinklyLittleLaugh · 27/09/2017 21:08

I can't stand cinnamon. Or nutmeg. Not a big fan of ginger either. All those Christmassy type flavours are the work of the devil.

Sooooooooooooooooooooo · 27/09/2017 23:40

Why on earth would you add a ton of cinnamon to a stir fry? It's not pudding, and even then it's not something I would do.

FiveBoys · 27/09/2017 23:42

I can well do without cinnamon in any form.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/09/2017 23:50

Porridge is improved by nutmeg not cinnamon. Most savoury dishes benefit from chilli or pepper or cumin. Nothing on this planet is improved by caraway ever!

Ttbb · 27/09/2017 23:58

I can't stand cinnamon in savoury foods. I love it in sweet things but when it is savoury food I just feel like throwing up.

Rainbunny · 28/09/2017 01:52

This thread reminds me of the time my friend cooked a stir fry dish and sort of made up the seasonings as she went along, so it ended up being Asian cinnamon stir-fry hell! Since then I can only bear the taste of cinnamon in sweet things never savoury dishes.

BeALert · 28/09/2017 02:40

Chewing gum is not improved by the addition of cinnamon.

I'm in the US and we're at the stage where your eyes water and your sinuses are effectively cleansed by the 'Fall' section of the supermarket. UGH.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 28/09/2017 02:47

I love
Cinnamon gum
Cinnamon heart candies (that you get at Valentine's Day)
Cinnamon cereal
Cinnamon toast
Cinnamon with apple-anything

I hate
Cinnamon with anything savoury

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 28/09/2017 02:48

Chaz I hate carraway too. Bleurgh. Nasty stuff. They put it in sausages here and call it Mild Italian and they are just inedible.

CakesRUs · 28/09/2017 02:57

I love cinnamon. Especially in rice pud.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 28/09/2017 03:00

To me, apple crumble and Dutch apple crumble (with cinnamon and raisins) are two completely different puddings.

I always put a small pinch of nutmeg in cheese sauce.

Leavingonajet · 28/09/2017 03:16

I am loving pumpkin spice in the US, I have at least half a dozen different things flavoured with it. I am not sure how long the coffee pods with it are sold for, I tried stock piling them but just drank more coffee!

LongWavyHair · 28/09/2017 03:29

Cinnamon Grahams. They were my favourite cereal as a kid. Now the thought of them makes me feel a bit queasy. Milk that ends up tasting of cinnamon... just no! What was my 10 year old self even thinking?? Grin

Whowouldfardelsbear · 28/09/2017 04:30

I thought this was going to be about pastry. Everything is better when wrapped in pastry.

Pivoine · 28/09/2017 04:54

Cinammon is lovely but only on sweet foods.
