To distance myself from this friend...

I will quickly start by saying I am a single parent on benefits and dla and carers allowance for daughter. My friend seems to hate people on benefits and is generally quite vocal about it but seems to have got worse. On the weekend I was at her house and she showed me her pay slip and how much she is taxed and said "you can see why I'm annoyed" and that she "basically pays for me" and how she is "only" £400 a month better of by working. She also agrees with the child tax credit cap (which effects me) and doesn't think any one should get it at all and instead "forced abortions" aibu in thinking 2 very different people can't be friends and to distance myself from her?

She is a nasty piece of work, I can't believe you need to ask. It's a bit like a single mum Muslim refugee asking should they not think unkindly of Nigel Farage Hmm.

Don't just distance yourself ditch her! And if I were you I would tell her that I no longer want to be friends with someone who feels resentment and disdain for me and not to bother contacting me again.

Another vote to ditch the bitch. Who needs someone like that in their lives? Drop her like a stone and all her poison and negativity with it.

She is no friend to you if she openly shares her disdain. If she was a real friend she'd keep her opinions to herself!! She's doing you more harm than good.

Forced abortions? Showing you her payslip? Well isn't she a delight!?!

I would cut that friendship stone dead but in the case I ever had a payslip shoved in my face again I would heartily laugh and point out she'd barely paid for the first day of her own state education with that contribution never mind people's benefits.

Sanctimonious shite bag. Who are these people thinking they're personally funding social welfare on a few hundred quid a month? Their lack of maths skills makes me question their suitability for employment Hmm
