I'm due to have my 5th c section tomorrow morning and the fear and anxiety has well and truly hit!

Has anyone got any words of wisdom to help me calm down?

Good luck! I'm having my 4th c section on Friday and also feeling a bit nervous..but you're in good hands. I'm sure yours will go just fine.

Huge congratulations! I have had three c sections and was sick with worry too- I know how you feel. The worrying kept me awake at night. I also was sure to have a consultant carry out my last op. What helped me was talking to the team about my anxiety and they were so good at telling me exactly what was going to happen and checking always how I was feeling. They made me laugh with their own stories and distracted me with questions about my children (I had three boys already and they were curious as to what I was having - a fourth boy!). I think that would be my advice. It's ok to be vulnerable. My last c section was the best of the three and that was because of how they made me feel. Best of luck

Yes I'm now thinking the best thing will be to make sure they know I'm anxious instead of putting on a brace face so they can give me some extra reassurance! Good luck to everyone else getting ready for their c sections this week too... lots of lovely new babies on their way Grin

5th c section!!! I'm in total awe as I only managed two. Sending you lots of positive thoughts for tomorrow and good luck with number 5

I've got a friend who has had 5 and she said the 5th was the best. I think the risks at the time of the operation are the same as for much fewer - assuming you don't have accreta. You have passed the risk for rupture and dodgy placental site, so it's all good. Good luck and keep your eye on the prize - I'm having my 4th soon.

Good luck! Wish I'd had photos taken when I had my cs for twins. Still felt like I'd been hit by a bus for weeks afterwards, so enjoy the pre-op feeling for the next 24 hrs. Good luck! (Get them to put a zip in?)

That's really reassuring, I will be hoping my 5th is the best one as well! Having my last meal now can't say I've got much of an appetite but being hungry won't help I love food Grin I've been saying I should have had a zip put in haha too late for that now this is definitely my last pregnancy!

Hope all goes smoothly. My sister had very serious complications affecting her 2nd section. The third was carefully planned elective / experienced consultant etc and went extremely smoothly (to collective relief as you might imagine).

They've just been to tell me they won't do it now Sad it's too dangerous apparently and I have to have an MRI to see if the placenta has grown in the last scar which is high on the womb and I have to go to a bigger hospital to have it done SadSad I feel awful

Oh outnumbered I'm really sorry. I can't believe that this wasn't established long ago in the pregnancy! Mine was all cleared at 20 weeks.

On the other hand they are just being thorough and you will be in very safe hands - they will want to make sure there are no nasty surprises and will be all prepared with blood/consultants in the theatre. I found it really reassuring reading how rarely these things go wrong when I was worried about the placental site (I had a lot of bleeding up to 20 weeks). Best of luck and keep us posted.

I'm still sitting in the hospital (the bigger one) waiting to be told what they're doing and when. I feel a bit like the consultant this morning just didn't want to do my section as it would be a pain in the arse.

I don't understand how no one at any point in the pregnancy has been concerned about this, I've been admitted to hospital multiple times for different things and no one has ever been worried about any of the things she said today.

I feel sad and frustrated and very disappointed my baby still isn't here! Sad

Oh that's so frustrating for you. I'm sure the consultant was only concerned with what's safest and best for you. My understanding was that the placenta can shift a fair bit as it grows and it might not have been possible to check earlier iyswim.

Sorry it's not going according to plan, hope it gets sorted soon.

Luckily the MRI appears to be reassuring, they can't see any sign of accreta and c section should be going ahead on Thursday at the bigger hospital. Thanks everyone Smile

I thought you could only have 3 c/sections, 4 at a huge push

I think that Radford mum has had about 15... Good luck OP, the doctors won't let anything happen to you and you will be in good hands- they know what they are doing.

I'm waiting to hear about going down for another pre op today and confirmation tomorrow is ok to go ahead, wish they would hurry up and ring!

@outnumbered4 just take one step at a time and don't focus on the big picture. You'll be fine - well you'll have 5 kids so you'll be knackered but apart from that - fine!

Just rtft- tell anyone who will listen how you feel - hand holding is a given at times like this! Don't hide it. Fingers crossed for you x
