This demonstrates the reality of privilege: there's male privilege, white privilege, straight privilege.... but, really, they are all quite secondary to class privilege.
If you are playing the game - i.e. you appear middle-upper class, presentable and educated, then doors open and barrier melt away.
We've become so obsessed with other characteristics that we've forgotten these basic fact.
Whether this is because so many of the leading voices on privilege are themselves middle class isn't for me to say. However, a little bit of research into the background of many so-called campaigners reveals little in the way of hardship.
