Any recommendations on what to get?

I drive up from Swansea to the Merthyr roundabout on the Heads of the Valley road, then turn right towards Cardiff on rhe A470. There is a Debenhams at the retail park, I would say maybe just a couple of minutes from the roundabout. No need to go into the town centre. I drive that way pretty much every day, not looking forward to the increased traffic!

riskmatrix · 23/09/2017 09:03

Thanks, Swansea to Merthyr? Thats quite some drive!

ThedementedPenguin · 23/09/2017 09:04

We had a huge one open up in August. It was meant to be a Tesco but they pulled out once the building was built so we have a massive one. I spend a fortune in it. We have fridge/freezer section.
I love it but have to be strong when going as I pick up loads Grin

Enjoy your mooch although I’d be inclined to wait until during the week as ours was crazy busy the first weekend it opened.

riskmatrix · 23/09/2017 09:05

Yep, just looked, its right by the Kier Hardie Building. Lovely!

Millerzingers · 23/09/2017 09:08

temporary there's a long awaited Trago Mills being built in my town, maybe we are in the same place. Looks like it's going to be huge.

Op I love home bargains especially their Halloween and Christmas ranges.

Millerzingers · 23/09/2017 09:08

Oops I had only read the first page, can see I've cross posted Blush

Temporaryanonymity · 23/09/2017 09:13

Haha, it isn't too bad. I used to drive from Warwick to Cambridge twice a week so this seems like a dream commute!

DarthLipgloss · 23/09/2017 09:19

The £2.99 candles that look like Yankee Candles but aren't. Got the Gingerbread one burning atm :)

I live in Scotland now. I miss Trago! What a wonderful and strange place the Newton Abbot Trago is. I spent many an hour lost in there .

I love ours great for, toiletries, medicines and frst aid kit stuff good but cheap plasters. We bought Xmas pj's for the kids from there last year and they are still in really good condition! Cards, birthday presents for kids they have a good craft section. I buy bits and pieces for our animals from there too. It's good for a mooch around and ours is much easier to find things in the B&M.

JungleExplorer · 23/09/2017 09:52

We have "The Bargain Triangle" in our local town which consists of a Home Bargains, a Wilko and a B&M all within a stroll of each other.

Plus The Range a little drive away.

I love a bargain.

PovertyPain · 23/09/2017 11:13

Have you a cat or dog? Their pet range is great value. Buy their gravy bones for dogs. I look after dogs and the Pedigree ones can be too rich for some of their tums, but the home bargain ones are great and easier to break up.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 23/09/2017 18:00

I just can't get into Trago Mills because of their UKIP connections.

MinesaPinot · 23/09/2017 18:12

Home Bargains is brilliant! Things I got in there last week:

Supersize bottles of Elvive Colour Protect shampoo and conditioner
Hay fever tablets (much cheaper than Boots/Superdrug)
Coat hooks and baskets for our newly decorated bathroom
Kitchen towels
Set of measuring cups (red, duck egg and cream) to pop in SiL's xmas present

They've started getting their Xmas stuff in, and they've got some lovely tags and gift bags which I will probably go back for.

I just like pottering around in there and seeing what they've got. It's right next to our Dunelm, so I'm as happy as a pig in the proverbial.....

Littlebelina · 23/09/2017 18:18

We have a massive b & m but I don't like it. Went into one once and another customer had decided to sit on the shelves amongst the PJ's.

Home bargains I love though. Cake decorating tools are good. Someone recommended the basmati rice to me but haven't tried it yet

PurplePillowCase · 23/09/2017 18:20

why?
it's a shit shop.
I'm never able to find what I need apart from tofifee and stuff is bad quality or a weird brand.

CockacidalManiac · 23/09/2017 18:43

Is it? I’ll make a mental note to avoid it, next to Wetherspoons and that twat Dyson then.

passmethewineplease · 24/09/2017 11:27

Some of it is crap admittedly but there are some gems.

I've just got my 3 year old a brand new winter coat for £10. It's from BHS and should've been £35!

hamsterchump · 24/09/2017 13:05

I always get ground coffee from there, and scented candles they do big jar ones for £2.99 and I love their Halloween scented one, smells like orange sweets!

Oh they have really good discounted toys, books, stationery especially activity/making type toys. I usually get children's presents there because they're such good value.

Good cheap greetings cards (as low as 29p or a pack of 5 children's ones for about a £1) and wrapping paper. They've had Frozen wrapping paper which has come in handy for the last few years.

Sweet and chocolate prices to rival poundland and a really good baking/cake decorating section if you're into that at all?

And I second, third millionth the toilet roll, Nicky rules!

Oh and their Cif is cheap only £1!

hamsterchump · 24/09/2017 13:07

And they have good kid's pyjamas for about £3.99.
