Natural deodorant salt bars?!

They are awesome, they work (even on my sweaty and doubting husband), they are healthier (no breathing in weird chemicals), they last FORVER (one bar has already lasted over a year and I expect it to do another 2, no joke) and therefore they massively reduce both cost and waste. I reckon that using them has prevented us using 40ish aerosols over the last few years.

Try them and spread the love. Salt of the Earth is good, but packing lets it down, my current fave is Native Unearthed.

Consensus seems to be they don’t work!!

Crowdie · 22/09/2017 20:22

Because humans vary?

And, therefore, what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another? Hmm

It's not difficult to work out OP.

You just need to apply your thinking skills.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 22/09/2017 20:23

I know someone who uses them... she really smells. I don't think she can smell it herself, but it's really bad.

Of course she doesn't know she smells. People with BO can't smell themselves because they've got used to it.

FledglingFTB · 22/09/2017 20:24

Is this like the solid lush deodorants? Literally cheese grated my armpit Confused

BillBrysonsBeard · 22/09/2017 20:24

I like smelling chemically and fresh GrinI'm glad there are alternatives though!

Ttbb · 22/09/2017 20:29

Can you get these from Waitrose or boots or sonething? Keen to give it a try but won't venture boots unless I'm likely to find it there.

Graveyardkate · 23/09/2017 09:29

I think boots sell Salt of the Earth. Holland & Barratt certainly will. Or any independent health food shop.

To all those people who tried them and said they didn’t work.... think about how a traditional antiperspirant works, by blocking the sweat glands.... It stands to reason therefore that you’ll be smellier for the first two or three days of not using them, as all the old sweat and bacteria that has been trapped in your pores now has an exit. Try salt deodorants for a week, wash daily, and see if you can find an equilibrium.
I occasionally do use Mitchum if I know I have a particularly long hot day ahead, but definitely find I am smellier for a day or so afterwards, until my pores clear themselves again.

MrsTrentReznor · 23/09/2017 09:59

I tried one, it was pretty inefficient to be honest.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 24/09/2017 00:18

I am concerned about how much salt there is left to be used, not looked into the pink salt production but I know that the Dead Sea is vanishing at an alarming rate since the Dead Sea minerals became a big seller. Hotels that used to be on the beaches are now a considerable distance away from the sea.

I am assuming that there is a limited amount of Himalayan pink salt too. I have bought it in the past but will it run out one day?

justilou1 · 24/09/2017 03:17

Oh bleurgh! We had to tell a particularly herbal friend of ours that hers really wasn't working...
No thanks.

Lweji · 24/09/2017 10:23

but definitely find I am smellier for a day or so afterwards, until my pores clear themselves again.

Or until you get used to your own smell. Grin

HidingUnderARock · 24/09/2017 10:51

Good point AllToads is this a non-renewable resource? If not, then in what way is it more "natural" than everything else?

FiveShelties · 24/09/2017 10:57

They do not work for me.

I have worked with a couple of people who insisted they did not smell - they were both absolutey wrong. I think people who smell just get used to it, or have no sense of smell.

mrsjezzabell · 24/09/2017 11:43

They didn't work for me and I tried a few. I could smell myself in work and would go wash my pits in the bathroom several times a day. I persevered for a while before giving up. On the other hand my husband doesn't even wear deodorant and I have never smelt him. I guess some people naturally have BO and some don't.

Bananas - I've had my DNA tested and I have that gene. From Siberia apparently.

No sweat and dry ear wax aid survival in cold climates. I wilt in the heat.
