To take a photo of bank balance

We have sold our house, the one we are buying is not ready for another 2/3 weeks, so staying with family for a few weeks.

The equity from our house goes into my account on Friday, and I feel like a kid at Christmas! Can not wait till Friday to take a photo of my bank balance, not to show anyone but it's the biggest amount I've had in it so far.
It won't be in there long as we using it for the new house. My bank will wonder what on earth ha!

Am I silly to be so excited for Friday?!

I would take a screenshot of something like that but I wouldn't have told anyone I was going to

Op, neither my DS with his inheritence, nor ourselves when we got 2 large sums (circa 80k) last year, had any contact from bank (apart from as above, manager trying to give DS advise). The money didn't disappear into any holding accounts either, although I quickly moved my deposits out to savings accounts.

I did get an endowment payment earlier this summer and got a text from our bank advising me of a large deposit. This must be new, as didn't get similar with larger deposits last year.

Oh and just a warning - has the solicitor confirmed it will definitely be with you Friday? When my late mums house sale completed last year, solicitor paid 50% each straight to myself and DB. We had option to pay extra for same day receipt of money or get it in 2 days. We opted for the latter.

trilby yes I can understand that, but having been told the first time that he didn't need advise, maybe a note should have been added to his account to save repeated calls. The first ones worried him, at only 18, but he expects them now!

The money isn't in there for long, usually just while he closes one savings account and moves to another.

It was just a flippant comment to my friend about it. I wasn't going out of my way to tell her I was taking a pic of it. She asked about house sale, and what was happening with the money from it between buying. I said it's going into my account and first thing il do it take a pic of it.

Definitely take a photo!

We recently bought a car and had to pay in cash (not in the U.K. and things like cheques or transfers confuse them) - it was approx 40k and the bank gave us cash in bundles in a paper bag!!! I felt like a criminal and yes took photos of it!

madwifenewlife · 18/09/2017 19:07

@JoandMax oh wow bet that was amazing to see though! Most I have held is £2000, and I had to pay it into the bank I was so scared walking with it in my bag haha!

Oooh this reminds me of something. Over 20 years ago I was at work, in retail. My area manager and I were talking on the shop floor. She picked up a slip of paper off the floor and looked at it before throwing it away. Her mouth dropped. It was a balance slip for £86000 !!

devilinme · 18/09/2017 20:32

I was technically 'homeless' and staying at a mates for two weeks between selling and buying.
I went to the cash point and printed out the balance and I had over half a million.
I celebrated having a KFC car picnic Grin

In Nigeria they have lots of notes with big numbers, (250 Naira used to be £1) so when we went there it always "felt" like you had loads of money when you had wodges of cash - that was really worth about a tenner!
