See it more and more.

'Been here a while. Cancel the cheque, t-rexing in asda, Maui'

WHO GIVES A FUCK

Like the advice would be different if you're a new subscriber.

Also 'mn royalty' like people who have been here for a long time, well their views are less important because they're all cynical and tainted. Ridiculous.

Does my head in.

OP posts:
blackteasplease · 18/09/2017 13:47

I think it is about trolling as OP has accepted.

It annoys me when people use things like "penis beaker" that were in national press as evidence, as saying penis beaker proves nothing. Probably same goes for cutted up pear, naice ham and probably lots of others.

Maybe that's why people choose newer things like t-rexing or Maui as they haven't been publicized afaik?

newusernameness · 18/09/2017 13:52

Ooo who is table cloth lady I don't remember that one

SunSeptember · 18/09/2017 14:08

I dont blame them, Its tedious but so is trying to change a few details so your not outed and some one goes to the stalkerish trouble of dragging up old threads to accuse a poster of something and changing details.

Luckily I have never had it happen to me, but its bloody annoying when someone just wants advice. some posters seem to sit on here looking for trouble Grin

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2017 14:09

There's always trouble in AIBU, no looking required. Yet is teems to be the topic of choice for everything 'for traffic'.

AlexanderHamilton · 18/09/2017 14:13

Over the 16 years I've been here the troll hunting has become ridiculous so I can't blame people.

I've had several name changes over the years so I guess I would perhaps if I was posting something unusual refer back to Cod, Judgeflounce (now there was a troll) & SWMNBN.

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2017 14:15

But that would mean nothing to loads of posters Alexander. I have been here since 2011 and have no idea about any of that apart from Cod who is a poster on here.

AlexanderHamilton · 18/09/2017 14:19

Judgeflounce was quite a saga circa 2002-2004 ish (can't remember exactly) she pretended to be legally qualified & was dishing out advice & but turned out to be something like a legal secretary. I think she actually impersonated a real person.

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2017 14:22

Oh no Alexander. That's pretty bad. As MNHQ say not everyone on here is who they say they are. Grin

I am actually a 21 year old supermodel.

I have just had a brainwave and I know SWMNBN, thats GF isn't it?

OlennasWimple · 18/09/2017 14:22

It's just an attempt to prove "I'm not a troll really" credentials

Which is meaningless, as you only need to spend three minutes in Classics to find a few phrases to throw around

AlexanderHamilton · 18/09/2017 14:25

Yes GF

KweenOfFarts · 18/09/2017 14:30

I'm sad that no one ever mentions greggs sausage rolls and the holy one chicken that can feed the world

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2017 14:32

No mention of Fruit Shoots any more either.

BobbyGentry · 18/09/2017 14:40

I always fancy making up silly references to show longevity such as laminated badgers, moutache whisker bristles in the snow, scared insomniac owls in the dove cott but resist... 'cause that would be plain silly 😌

scottishdiem · 18/09/2017 15:00

Its a utterly pointless and ineffective thing to do. 30 seconds on site will mean you can do and make it look like you've been here ages. I am minded to thing the people who do it these days are newbie wankers who think it looks clever.

I am not sure of the entire name change thing anyway. As if lurking and posting under one thing and then starting a thread under another somehow makes you special. If you are scared about being outed by what you post in a new thread, how can you be sure that someone cant guess who you are by what you post in another thread? If you are scared about being outed then why post on a public forum.

Just dont get the name changes.

AlexanderHamilton · 18/09/2017 15:12

Scottish - I name change because there are several people who know who I am in real life especially because my husband is a teacher & my dd attends a particular type of school.

There may be things I want to post that I don't want linking directly to my msin account. (I will often change a few details such as age & sex of children)

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2017 15:46

Name changing seems like a lot of effort. I would use the wrong name and accidentally sock puppet every five minutes. Grin

I just stick with the truth because again, i would drop myself in it.

gamerwidow · 18/09/2017 16:07

I don't like because it's pointless and does nothing to prove you are not a troll.
Wouldn't stop me responding nicely to a poster but I'd be inwardly rolling my eyes.

AnguaResurgam · 18/09/2017 19:13

"It's not as much use to do it as it was once, but it does still tend to stop people saying things like 'Interesting first post' or 'you joined just to say that!?' If people were less snipey about 'first posts' people wouldn't do it."

I think you've misunderstood. Until MNHQ started deleting all posts which contained that phrase, it was a signal 'I think this person is a troll. This post seems unbelievable and there's no track record to provide any credibility. I might be wrong, but be wary'

It's was never meant to be a downer of new posters per se. But someone who is new wouldn't know the MN jargon history.
