Aibu baby teeth

Not really aibu, just posting for traffic.

My ds has just lost his third tooth. I kept his first one and second he lost in the playground at school.

My friend says she has kept all her childrens teeth. I was just going to get rid of them from now on since I have one. Is it actually a wee bit creepy?Confused

What have you done?

Made a set of false teeth for the dog. What else?

angelnix · 15/09/2017 21:13

You could make them into a lovely necklace

elQuintoConyo · 15/09/2017 21:14

If you think it is creepy, bin them.

If you don't think it's creepy, keep them.

We have DS' first. His 2nd 3rd and 4th all got eaten Grin

There is an episode of Spongebob about Patrick's last baby tooth. It went on the Tooth Ferry to an island to live with the other teeth. If you want something to help him understandvwhere the teeth go, you could do worse than show him that. I saw it last week it was delightful! (I'm a big Spongebob fan).

ParsimonyThyme · 15/09/2017 21:14

DS was horrified I wanted to keep his tooth! I'll have this dilemma soon, he's only lost one so far...

AFlibbertigibbet · 15/09/2017 21:15

If you have (or are planning to have) more than one child and do keep their teeth, then maybe store them separately.

My sister and I had a fun (and slightly creepy) afternoon with a collection of forty baby teeth from our Dad's drawer trying to guess which teeth came from each of us! Grin

jaseyraex · 15/09/2017 21:15

That necklace is going to give me nightmares...

I kept the first. It's in a baby book with first haircut etc. The rest have been chucked away!

haveacupoftea · 15/09/2017 21:19

There's definitely no need to keep body parts.

silverbell64 · 15/09/2017 21:21

Its a great whymsical "idea" however who really wants to keep teeth.
The tooth fairy comes for them any way.
Bin them.

oigetoffmycheese · 15/09/2017 21:25

My mate just throws them onto the drive...they become part of the gravel 😬😱

Ameliablue · 15/09/2017 21:29

I kept the first but also happened to have kept one other one which proved to be useful when dd dropped it and lost it before she could put it under her pillow. Cue hysterical child until I luckily "found" it.

bimbobaggins · 15/09/2017 22:10

I have kept them all, I don't even know what I was thinking about doing it. Now I can't throw them out because what kind of mother would I be throwing my own child's teeth out Grin
If anyone wants to come round and throw them out then that makes it ok doesn't it ?

Poshjock · 15/09/2017 23:38

I'm over 40 and I still have 4 of my own baby teeth! My brother of similar age still has a couple of his.

Allyg1185 · 16/09/2017 09:34

I was thinking a couple and leave it at that

I have the ones the tooth fairy took, kids are now 24 and 27 and I have little baggies with them in.

Some of you might like this.

It always strikes me as bizarre. What are you going to do with them. Bequeath them to the child in your will? Make a full set of dentures for someone with a tiny mouth?

Sentimentality gone mad.

OhOurBilly · 16/09/2017 11:21

Dm has mine and my sisters baby teeth. I see nothing wrong with this, but then, I have ds's cord stump in a little pot with his newborn hospital bracelet and the little plasters from when he had his first jabs. 😆

Oysterbabe · 16/09/2017 11:25

I will definitely be binning them when DD starts losing hers. I threw her cord straight in the bin when it came off too and loads of people have told me since that they kept it.
I don't get keeping gross stuff like this.

LinoleumBlownapart · 16/09/2017 11:26

Saucy Jack that's brilliant!! Grin. We got a wooden tooth box, kept those that weren't swallowed, then buried it with the umbilical stump and planted a tree where they are buried. But that's the done thing in DH's culture.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 16/09/2017 11:29

I have kept a few of each child's teeth (they're teens and almost teens now). At the time it seemed cute and normal but a few weeks ago we came across them and the kids all said eww why? I must admit they did look a bit creepy and I wondered why I ever thought it was a good idea to keep them, I still haven't thrown them out though Grin

Graphista · 16/09/2017 11:33

Apart from sentimentality teeth contain dna in forms that can be used in the future if your child goes missing. Also I believe there is work being done to develop this tissue for medical use.

gamerwidow · 16/09/2017 11:49

They go straight in the bin bleurgh

TittyGolightly · 16/09/2017 11:52

No tooth fairy here. DD decreed when the first came out that she was keeping them herself. No idea what she plans to do with them but no skin off my nose (as long as they stay in the jar).

Have seen wooden boxes made especially to hold each tooth that falls out in the position it came from. Must be a market for it!

TooSleepyToCare · 16/09/2017 11:55

I have a wooden box that they're in but I can't for the life of me think why. I have absolutely no idea what I'd do with them.

deadringer · 16/09/2017 11:57

I am like you bimbo, I kept all my dcs baby teeth and now I can't bring myself to bin them. And I have 5 dc and the eldest is 27! It's funny but I am not overly sentimental at all.
