I am member (lurker) on a Facebook group that helps people get their debt wrote off, advocates not paying TV licences etc the group gets my back up, but it provides some regular entertainment. BUT tonight has shocked me, people are actually calling our NHS disgusting for charging for prescriptions ?! Are people crazy, do people want everything for free in life?

Grrrr I just felt like I needed a little rant Angry

Oh ffs..... these are the kind of people in that group. Posting stuff like this, how inconsiderate & hurtful to the poor lady.

I like that group. Alot of helpful people. Especially when someone's scared of bailiffs and they're at that person's door.

I don't understand what makes you think people actually wait til their debts go to a debt collector. So they can screw them over. Some people's circumstances change for the worse. Thus making them unable to pay. Or the government's screwing over the elderly and disabled in the benefits cuts. I doubt they're sat running their hands together waiting for their debts to go Into the hands of the debt collectors. SMH

jarhead123 · 17/09/2017 12:15

Joined the group for a laugh Grin

chopper23 · 17/09/2017 12:25

I agree, there is some useful advice for people struggling with debt or no it's on the horizon. Like I've said, I joined the group, hoping for some hints & tips BUT there are those who post things like 'what happens if you just stop paying X,Y,Z' and people will tell them to ignore letters, wait for debt to be bought by agencies so they can then use '3 letter thing'.

A while back, Sky was the flavour of the month & people screen shot their online chat with sky advisers having their £000' of arrears wiped. So obviously more people catch on and do it.

It's just annoying. I'm in debt, I pay it, because it's my problem.

I see the "false flag conspiracy theorist" are all over btbab again! Ffs if they wanted to do a fake bomb don't you think they would be intelligent enough to cover up their story properly instead of a woman with a bandage round her head
And do you really think they would use an actress 😂 (coz obviously they have found a red headed actress and decided it was her) 🙄
And if you are not a sheep and don't agree with them you are a sheep that agrees with the government lol so either way your a sheep!!!
And it's the funniest group I've been on, woman gets laptop over £1000 pays it for 2 months then says can't afford it but wants to keep it. Advice is don't pay wait till it's with the baliff, 3 letter them ? Then you have no debt and free laptop
And that Liz, oh she thins she so important lol

Have you though about how inconsiderate and hurtful your comments may be to people who use that group for genuine reasons?
Or to the people/families for whom the support in that group has literally been a lifesaver?
Or the people who give up their own time and energy to provide that help?

You don't know these individuals nor have the full story behind their circumstances.....yet you laugh at their misfortunes?

And then try to claim the moral high ground?

DuchessChesh · 17/09/2017 13:05

I find this thread very sad. More so that that amusement is found from people in debt. Often if anyone cares to understand the back stories in the other group, there is a history of people losing jobs, marriage breakups, issues with childcare etc. All leading to relying on benefits that are continuously messed around, not paid on time, paid incorrectly, repayments demanded without evidence. This leads to debts being passed on to bullying bailiffs who harass and intimidate vulnerable people. BTBandB is a vital support group for those who are struggling. Debt can cause depression and ultimately suicide. Is it 'funny' to laugh at a desperate soul? I am shocked at the comments on here laughing at such vulnerable people. It could and does happen all the time and to any one of us. Thankfully if it did, there are groups such as BB&B that offer non-judgemental practical support. Stand back from your mocking and think about what you are reading and saying. IF you are a member of that group, you know the rules are enforced heavily about being non-judgemental. Be thankful that today you are not in the position of having bailiffs banging on your door in front of your children but understand that one day you may well be and will turn to the support and knowledge on BB&B.

chopper23 · 17/09/2017 13:37

None judgemental? You having a laugh? They don't judge people who want to have their debt wrote off or whatever but judge you if you believe our government isn't faking terrorism to cover up some made up bullshit? Also, when the election was on, if you wasn't a Labour support you were wrong and to blame for how terrible our country in (which I don't believe it is)

The page, in theory is brilliant & is helping many people. But some of it is ridiculous.

I don't mind paying the licence fee. It pays for a wide range of programmes and radio stations. I watch very few of them but I like the variety available for people. I also like bbc iplayer that is paid for by the licence fee. As for it being ok to rip off firms like Sky or water companies I hate that. From a moral point, if you've agreed to pay for something you pay it. End of. If you don't you're in trouble. Your fault.

Ttbb · 17/09/2017 13:51

Can you blame them? They live in one of the worst welfare states in the world. They have been fed a lie about inequality and paying into the system and now expect everything to behanded to them for free.

MrsJamesAspey · 17/09/2017 14:17

With that I asked why would I not? (Mid 40s, income, etc) and the reply I got was well most people don't and the NHS don't check up!!!!
I am stunned and very angry!

How would the shop person know if the NHS checks up or not??

And in actual fact they do check, and will fine you if you make a false claim. The prescription has your name, address and dob on it, it's not hard for them to chase you.

eternalopt · 17/09/2017 14:28

There's no way I could join a group like that. Would drive me bonkers. Can't even read this whole thread without steam coming out my ears 😂

BalloonSlayer · 17/09/2017 15:36

Whattodoabouthis so would i ! , but my point is that the NHS clearly makes a profit on some prescriptions, my example being the prednisolone which has always been 5 tablet dose whenever we have got it, costs under £4 but if you pay for prescriptions in the UK you are paying more than double the cost. So the NHS is getting some of the money back. Not that I mind, DS's epipens are £35 each so they are very good value for £8

beaver67 · 17/09/2017 15:49

I have to restrain myself, everyday not to comment & call everyone a who joins a Facebook page to take the piss out of people who have financial problems , dumb fuckwits.
People like myself who had to leave a marriage where my husband lost us our home, racked up business and personal debts of 150k, put 7k on my credit cards - and then went bankrupt. I can't even afford bankruptcy. I've been saddled with everything...I'm disabled, and unable to work because of the number of painkillers I have to take. I have a child. I have got some help from these people, and thank god I did because I was considering suicide things were that bad.
So before you sanctimoniously tar everyone with the same brush, accusing users of the site of deliberately racking up debts, I suggest you do some research first.

Grimbles · 17/09/2017 15:56

That page is full of 'freemen on the land' types.

I don't judge people in debt, having been there myself, but I will judge the arseholes offering shit advice that just makes things worse.

MamaOfTwos · 17/09/2017 16:47

The people who need genuine help should go to citizens advise or step change, the fuckers that think they can have a good lifestyle and not pay for it, should be shot. In the face. At point blank range. Why should 95% pay their way and put into the pot, and then the 5% take, take and take again bemoaning the fact that they want what others have, without working and earning. Disgusting.

beaver67 · 17/09/2017 17:12

Yes you're right...
They do check. A couple if years ago I got my prescription from a pharmacy in my village instead of town, and they entered the address wrong. I got a snotty letter, and threat of a fine...managed to sort it out though.

@Oojamaboogary - totally right! As I said, I left the group for the good of my health. It raised my blood pressure.

ReanimatedSGB · 17/09/2017 17:47

MamaOfTwos - I take it you mean the people like the heads of SPorts Direct and Uber, the idiots who caused the 2008 finance crash, Rupert Murdoch, tax-dodging, expense-fiddling MPs and the Royal family when you talk about the 5% who just take take take? I do see your point but shooting them is a bit excessive.

lolalola19 · 17/09/2017 18:43

orecchietti and fuck you too - sorry, I forgot that no one is actually allowed an opinion on here anymore without someone (yes, people like you) being a whiney little bitch - so fuck your opinion and shove it where the sun don't shine.

orecchietti · 17/09/2017 19:07

Hahaha hit a sore spot have I? No need to get personal - I said fuck your characterisation of these people and v deliberately didn't make it personal. But since you've already lowered yourself - fuck you too sweetheart.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 17/09/2017 19:46

BalloonSlayer I'm fine with that, though. The NHS desperately needs money so I don't mind overpaying on some prescriptions.

Chattymummyhere · 17/09/2017 20:27

THE worst type of credit is from bloody catalogues.

I remember being young and stupid my washer broke I got an account to do buy now pay later for a washer. I filled it all in correct as earning £0. Within a year I had a 4K credit limit on the account crazy to give such a limit to someone marked as unemployed with £0 income.

I do find it annoying when it's sky's cut me off again and now they won't reinstate as they only did it last month.

lolalola19 · 17/09/2017 20:28

Hit a sore spot??? Really what are you on - mental!
