threw DPs clothes away

DP has a habit of leaving his dirty clothes all over my bedroom floor until he goes home (back to his own pig-sty), I put up with it for a while since they were only there a maximum of 2 days but after a while I got irritated by the disrespect it showed and started to throw away any underclothes I found on the floor and purposely spill stuff on jeans and t-shirts that were on the floor. He's starting to notice that his underwear is going down in numbers rapidly, now I'm starting to doubt I was in the right to chuck it all so darnt admit it until I know I was in the right!

what do you think?

I'm with Colditz on this. Although I can see in the harsh light of day how you might be feeling a little guilty now.

And when you say spilling stuff on his clothes - I take you mean stuff you can wash out and not gloss paint or similar????

If it was me and I was having an attack of the guilts I would buy him some nice new underwear and give it to him at the same time owning up to what I've done. But spell it out you will do the same again if it continues. Until you share a house he has no right to disrespect your space and treat the place like his own.

morningpaper · 04/04/2007 21:37

I would just make him do all his own laundry (assuming he didnt already)

Flamesparrow · 04/04/2007 21:40

He clearly doesn't want it if he can't be arsed to pick it up/take it with him

Elasticwoman · 04/04/2007 21:56

MP aren't you being a bit dim here? - He'll need to pick the damn things off the floor before they get laundered by him, her or the cat's mother.

LowFat - are you saying it's somehow all right for a man to leave dirty underwear around the bedroom if he lives with you?

My dh is a bit like the dp in q, in that he leaves dirty underwear on bedroom floor. But it's on his side of the bed, so I don't have to look at it. He knows I won't pick it up, and will only wash what has been put in the linen basket. So eventually he does sort his own clothes out. He will even put a load of washing in the machine occasionally, when feeling especially New Mannish (or just short of clean smalls.)

This system has worked quite well for nearly 25 years.

LowFatMilkshake · 04/04/2007 21:59

EW....erm no, but it's not quite as bad.....is it?

zippitippitoes · 04/04/2007 22:00

we all wash our own clothes here and pick them up etc or not as the case may be

Elasticwoman · 05/04/2007 10:04

Sorry if I scared you, Lowfat. But this thread does throw up an interesting point about the difference between lover and husband. It reminds me about this old joke: a young man is having trouble getting past first base with women. An older friend recommends he tries candlelit dinner for two, sexy music on in the background, asking her to dance and then waltzing her smoochily into the bedroom .... The young man promised to try these tactics with latest squeeze. Next time they met, older man said How did you get on? Young man says, well she loved the candlelit dinner, the sweet nothings, the music, the dancing her into the bedroom. But just as I was putting the shoe trees into my shoes she got up and left!

Custy touched on this point: can a man be both sexy and tidy in the bedroom?

mylittlestar · 05/04/2007 10:27

agree with custy

LowFatMilkshake · 05/04/2007 20:18

While we're on a joke about single or married

A single woman comes home, looks whats in the fridge and goes to bed.
A married woman comes home, looks wahst in the bed and goes to the fridge.

Sorry Fransil - dont mean to get funny on your thread - have you decided what to do next??

nightowl · 05/04/2007 20:25
