When objects are referred to as humans

Mr Hoover, mr chair, mr washing machine (mmm always seems to be mr)

And even worse when naughty mr chair gets told off when a child falls off it/walks into it

MuddlingThroughLife · 14/09/2017 09:10

Ooh skitlesss that's another I hate - brought instead of bought!

Guilty! Blush my toddlers crack up when I say that and forget the pain so I'm not stopping anytime soon! We whack the chair back too! I hope they don't turn violent towards people! Grin

Bubbington · 14/09/2017 12:40

Saying 'can I ...' instead of 'may I...' Just because you can do something it does not necessarily mean you may do it.

pigsDOfly · 14/09/2017 12:41

Ah, washing the pots. I get it now.

There was a thread a few months ago in which the poster was complaining that her DM expected her to 'wash the pots' that her brothers had left in the sink.

I was a bit puzzled as to what exactly the brothers were cooking that required so many saucepans, but hey ho; now I understand she just meant the washing up.

Thank you mumsnet. I've learned so much on here.

Should of would of could of
l8r, evry1, sum1, luv, r (meaning our) in2... etc etc etc

"Delish"

For some reason I can hear that word even when spoken on the other side of the room and it makes me wince every time. Every time.

MuddlingThroughLife · 15/09/2017 21:58

Thought of another. MIL says knicks instead of knickers. Apparently knickers is not a very nice word.
