Just drive through a quieter part of a busy town.
Approaching a set of traffic lights so was slowing down in a 40 zone. .
To my left I noticed a woman on a mobility scooter. . Bright floral skirt and dark pink handbag. Hair in a bit of an up- do style. Sunglasses on..
I had mine on too.
Prescription ones or can't see to drive.
Took a second glance as I got to the lights.
(My inner mind- on reflection- was maybe puzzled. .)
The occupier of the scooter was also spouting a full beard.
My brain went into full on confusion mode.
What would you have thought?

OP posts:
LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 13/09/2017 16:50

She was probably a he, or he a she but not a she he or a he she just a he or a she.

Buxtonstill · 13/09/2017 16:51

It probably also confuses you to see that John Lewis sells pink T shirts for girls and boys, and that some boys like playing with Tiaras and Barbies. Each to their own. Get over yourself.

NicolasFlamel · 13/09/2017 16:55

What's the joke? A human being just existing is the joke? I don't get it. Must have had a sense of humour bypass.

GiantSteps · 13/09/2017 16:57

Bloke in a dress.

But YANBU to do a double-take. We're conditioned to assume dress = woman, and obvious facial hair=man.

Curlyshabtree · 13/09/2017 17:02

Was it Conchita Wurst?

Idontevencareanymore · 13/09/2017 17:06

There's a person local to me who wears a beard along with their dress and high heels.

I assume they like to dress in dresses and high heels. But also like their facial hair.

If there's a joke here I'm really lost.

TheSquatLobster · 13/09/2017 17:07

I'd have thought "thank fuck a disabled person still has a mobility scooter, hope it doesn't get taken away from them!"

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 13/09/2017 17:08

OP seems to have disappeared...

SemiNormal · 13/09/2017 17:11

Why are people so mean? OP was clearly trying to be funny and you are all treating her like she ran the poor man/lady over. If you dont get the joke dont comment on the thread ... Well can you at least explain the joke because clearly you appear to be the only one who gets it?

Santa doing covert ops Grin Grin

EverybodyHappy · 13/09/2017 17:13

Years ago when my sister and I still lived with our parents in a small town we bumped into each other on the bus home. There was standing room only so stood at the front chatting. Suddenly we both clocked the most butch of men sat right by us wearing a dress, high heels, holding a ladies' bag and wearing make up. He had the most badly painted nails and a wisp of hair in a ponytail while the rest of is head was balding. We'd heard of transvestites but probably more of the drag queen variety and it was the last thing we would have expected to see in our town. He was sat there so seriously. Without a word being spoken we were both shaking with uncontrollable hysterics. We tried so hard not to make it obvious as we didn't want to be rude but come on, everyone has their limit. It was hilarious.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 13/09/2017 17:17

Some folk need to get out more often.

How shit a person must you be if you find laughing at crossdressers/transvestites funny.

Sad.

InThisTogether · 13/09/2017 17:17

Presumably this is a (bad) j9me from the OP as she's disappeared now.

InThisTogether · 13/09/2017 17:18

*joke

LoveDeathPrizes · 13/09/2017 17:21

Everybody happy You probably made that person feel like shit.

Silvercatowner · 13/09/2017 17:30

This.

EverybodyHappy · 13/09/2017 17:34

I don't think people find laughing at them funny - they find them funny. The laughter was uncontrollable. I hope we hid it well enough as I'd hate to make anyone feel bad but we were very young and had never seen anything like it before. It's a bit emperor's new clothes. Why should we pretend it's not funny when it is.

CleopatraCatLover · 13/09/2017 17:37

Demis Russos, anyone remember him Grin

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 13/09/2017 17:38

Everyone is so right on... It's unusual to see a man in a skirt carrying a bright pink handbag; stop being so disingenuous, folks.

Buxtonstill · 13/09/2017 17:39

Everybody - 'transvestites but probably more of the drag queen variety' Are you so rude about everybody? I hope none of your children want to express themselves in any non 'mainstream' way

ReanimatedSGB · 13/09/2017 17:39

SO, anything unusual is 'really funny'? Fat people? Someone with a missing limb? Anyone dressed in bright colours who is otherwise 'ugly'?

TakeAnadin · 13/09/2017 17:39

It was somebody wearing what they wanted... you should go to Brighton some day.

alltouchedout · 13/09/2017 17:51

Idk OP, can you help me make sense of this thread?

SemiNormal · 13/09/2017 17:58

EverybodyHappy Are you honestly not ashamed of your posts? Confused Do you laugh at everyone who is a bit different or just "transvestites"? You sound fucking awful, I hope I don't know you in real life.

EverybodyHappy · 13/09/2017 17:59

Two words. Les Dawson. Don't be sanctimonious.
