I love threads about personal finances. I just find it so interesting to learn about salaries of different jobs, cost of housing in different areas etc.

Though, invariably, they end up with a mix of "I earn £4,000,000 a year and can't afford more of a holiday than a week in the eaves of an abandoned public toilet in Skegness every January" vs "my husband earns tuppence a month and switching from branded cola to Lidl's version means I now live on a yacht".

I like threads about primary schools. I have been teaching for twenty years and have never come across anything like the bizarre things parents and teachers moan about on here!

Writerwannabe83 · 11/09/2017 21:00

I love threads about:

  • crazy cheeky people who are unbelievably entitled and make crazy demands of other people.

  • I love a good SAHM/WOHP debate.

  • Wedding related threads

*Unmarried women in vulnerable SAHM situations wth lazy, shitty and selfish men purely because the advice and support they get is really interesting to read.

shushpenfold · 11/09/2017 21:00

Bonkers neighbours....especially ones who want to grow their plants in your garden!

Walkthroughthefire · 11/09/2017 21:00

Love a woo and family friends aibu. Allows me to check my level of crazy

tigerdriverII · 11/09/2017 21:02

I can tell you the ones I don't like : troll threads that make this place like 'Take A Break'.

I love fun daft ones. And ones where there is obviously a real problem and lovely MNetters sort it out.

FenceSitter01 · 11/09/2017 21:02

Can't beat a good old Christmas/MIL/Easter chocolate/Who should pay for this thread.

Katedotness1963 · 11/09/2017 21:02

I love the pronunciation threads. It's so interesting to see how many different ways we say a word.

Parenting. Again because there are so many different ways to do it.

Food. I love to find quick recipes and snacks.

gingerbreadmam · 11/09/2017 21:03

i wouldn't say i like reading them but the ones that keep me going back are the 'is he having an affair' ones as they go to show lots of people having affairs really do follow a 'script'. It is good to see everyone piling on to offer great advice and support too.

I also like when people have a drastic hair restyle.

And when people share engagement rings / complain about engagement rings.

Moanyoldcow · 11/09/2017 21:05

I love the insane wedding/hen ones.

I like money ones too.

I like the support on the ones where relationships are in trouble/dysfunctional but the threads themselves often depress me.

The CFN ones usually have me glued because I can't believe anyone would be so wet to not properly deal with it.

TenForward82 · 11/09/2017 21:07

Parking and CFNs!

Palegreenstars · 11/09/2017 21:09

Household routines - the variety really entertains me.

I get mersmerised by problems that could be resolved by just talking to someone or saying no. People put up with a lot of crap.

GastonsWife · 11/09/2017 21:10

I love love love Woo ones. I really like when people talk about growing up in the 60s\70s\80s. I love hearing about people's lives.

RatOnnaStick · 11/09/2017 21:11

I love the 'did you know...?' ones where Every Single Time people are amazed that pineapples grow on the ground not trees, the Channel Tunnel is under the sea bed not on it, that there are tabs in clingfilm boxes to hold the roll in, that in some cars the petrol light shows which side the flap is on and that The Falklands are nowhere near Scotland.

BeepBeepMOVE · 11/09/2017 21:12

Parking and nutty neighbours with boundary issues.

I love a diagram.

EarlessToothlessVagabond · 11/09/2017 21:13

I love the bizarre and random gems that are very rare these days. There was one about a MNers ds having hair like Richard III. It didn't get a lot of attention and only made a couple of hundred posts (if that) but it cracked me up. I like a sheepy-baa weird style and beauty thread which usually ends with me ordering some random stuff on Amazon along with half on MN and then we all come to our senses 6 weeks later and collectively screech WTF!

PickledLilly · 11/09/2017 21:13

I love the ones when people admit embarrassing or stupid things they've done or ridiculous accidents/injuries. I'm a rotter because they are always the threads which really make me laugh.

Pollydonia · 11/09/2017 21:13

I love how funny mners are, my favourite threads are ones that start off with a semi serious tone then take a surreal turn.
I also love classics.

NotACleverName · 11/09/2017 21:14

I like the ones where the OP is, without a doubt, being unreasonable. Yet comes back to argue that they're not.

plank · 11/09/2017 21:15

A woo one. And I've not seen a good un' for years :(

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 11/09/2017 21:15

MIL threads. Mine is lovely but reading about the shenanigans of others does tickle me, though it's not funny for the poster I realise.

RuggerHug · 11/09/2017 21:16

Real time cheeky fucker ones.
Also MIL ones to confirm some thoughts on mine sometimes.
Aaaaaaaaand the happy ending ones where it all works out lovely Grin

MattAffleck · 11/09/2017 21:18

I like some of the 'what are doing now' threads, but some get a bit far fetched and braggy Hmm

I like the affair threads not because someone's life is falling apart, but because as the above poster said, the script exists. It gets trotted out time and time again.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 11/09/2017 21:18

I like the ones about the silly things people have said and done, mistaken beliefs and misunderstandings or daft accidents, etc. There is a "middle class accidents" one around at the moment which is most amusing.

Given the three stupid things I've done or discovered I've recently done today, I might start one myself. Gardening related, oddly.

InDubiousBattle · 11/09/2017 21:18

I find the 'how often do you do laundry?'and 'how much do you spend on food?'strangely addictive. Love a live birth thread and watch them on the off chance of a new born baby picture!

writer I'm a SAHM and SAHP v WOHP threads make my blood boil but I read them anyway!

FernetBranca · 11/09/2017 21:22

I really just like daft ones. I guess where there is absolutely no chance of trolling, because it just doesn't matter. Loved the franglais one at the weekend. One of my all time favourites was what posters dads would do a la Liam Neeson if they were kidnapped and held to ransom; it was wonderful.
