I love threads about personal finances. I just find it so interesting to learn about salaries of different jobs, cost of housing in different areas etc.

Though, invariably, they end up with a mix of "I earn £4,000,000 a year and can't afford more of a holiday than a week in the eaves of an abandoned public toilet in Skegness every January" vs "my husband earns tuppence a month and switching from branded cola to Lidl's version means I now live on a yacht".

"AIBU?"
"Yes"
"FUCK OFF, I AM NOT!"

Also "please help me pick a name for my triplets! I love Farnsworth, Jayden, and Balonz, but DH not convinced?"

And I live for CFN/parking threads

IStoleThisUsername · 11/09/2017 21:23

My favourite threads are ones where OP or their dc has done something embarrassing and everyone chimes in with their own embarrassing story.

I love the conception/pregnancy boards, especially when I see someone who was struggling to conceive finally gets their bfp.

But my guilty pleasure is the inevitable 'how much do you spend on your dc at Christmas' threads

FernetBranca · 11/09/2017 21:24

Oh, and I love a good Jilly Cooper thread. I changed my name in honour of one about 2 years ago and never got round to changing back Smile

flippinada · 11/09/2017 21:26

I always enjoy the worst date/wedding/most outrageous guest ones. Usually good natured and very funny.

mrsRosaPimento · 11/09/2017 21:26

Woo. I love reading people's stories. I find it really interesting.

MrsBush · 11/09/2017 21:28

CFN and parking. The two together make my day

gingerbreadmam · 11/09/2017 21:29

oh gosh i love woo, can you see a line and facebook tat threads too.

beepbeeprichie · 11/09/2017 21:30

My favourite ones are when the OP comes back with an update- e.g. Toddler at the hen do. I hate getting invested when the OP decides to have it out with OH/ CFN/ MIL and then never comes back. Enquiring minds want to know!!!!!

wanderings · 11/09/2017 21:34

I like nostalgia threads most of all, I'm always happy when one comes along.

There are many bunfighty threads I don't bother to read because they're so predictable, but for some I like to get my bingo card out; mostly the anti-religion ones, such as "my dc's school had a minute of silence in November, it's dangerously close to collective worship". "Indoctrinate" - tick.

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 11/09/2017 21:38

I like funny ones that happen spontaneously

e.g. AIBU Do you rinse your mince?

Which was followed by about 590 replies of rhyming invented kitchen quandaries

Worriedrose · 11/09/2017 21:39

@FernetBranca
Ooooh I like your user name!!! Now that's a good hangover cure
Didn't realise it was a jilly cooper thing! Smile

Worriedrose · 11/09/2017 21:40

There's good advice on here old mumsnet.
If you post, and the consensus goes one way
Ffs listen!!!

bouyo · 11/09/2017 21:43

Budgeting. For some reason like you op I'm all about the finances.

What makes me laugh though is someone will rock up with pursed lips whining about how rude it is to ask, and others merrily carry on sharing figures which we know could be bollocks but still fascinating!

Loathe any threads about mn in yesteryear. Anything about bloody mouldies. Yes I was here back then and no it wasn't better.

PuntasticUsername · 11/09/2017 21:44

I like ones concerning disputes with DHs/DPs. I like seeing how everyone else organises their lives as couples, and I compare them to my own life to check my DH isn't getting away with murder somewhere, and when there's one describing an incredibly unreasonable DH/DP I read them and silently scream "Seriously, where do women keep finding these absolute useless wankstains..."

thecolonelbumminganugget · 11/09/2017 21:46

'Is this a positive pregnancy test??' Threads. I love looking for a line!

coldcanary · 11/09/2017 21:50

Daft story type ones that end up in classics.
I confess I was drawn here about 6 years ago by a thread that ended up in a newspaper that my Gran showed me and I thought that this is my type of humour. I came for the laughs and stayed for everything else, apart from one flounce that lasted about 2 months! Grin

ethelfleda · 11/09/2017 21:52

I love looking for a line on a pregnancy test too when I venture over to the conception boards.

On AIBU my favourites are anything controversial... for example the ones complaining about smokers or women working out after pregnancy. I like breastfeeding debates, alcohol in pregnancy debates and judgy OPs that get ripped to shreds Grin

Worriedrose · 11/09/2017 21:52

There are some real classics on the classics
I once spent a whole day at work reading the poo one.
histerical laughter, whilst sitting on my own
Feel slightly smug I got paid to do that for 6 hours

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2017 21:54

Me too, thecolonel!

JustHereForThePooStories · 11/09/2017 21:55

I once spent a whole day at work reading the poo one

After years and years of lurking on MN, I joined solely to post my story on that thread. Hence, my username.

OP posts:
thecolonelbumminganugget · 11/09/2017 21:55

I also like the 'I had sex 2 weeks ago and this morning one boob feels funny and I couldn't finish my weetabix - am I pregnant?' Threads.

I don't have kids but I can only conclude that when you go to your first midwife appointment they don't trust a pregnancy test, only a collective opinion from mumsnet as to whether you are pregnant or not.

PeralMePots · 11/09/2017 21:55

I like the gardening, decluttering and reminiscence threads.

Things like food and sayings from childhood.

Worriedrose · 11/09/2017 21:58

@justhereforthepoostories
That's brilliant
if i had the energy I would go and hunt down your story!!

Maybe next time I am really bored at work I will!

GastonsWife · 11/09/2017 22:06

I also love ones about budgeting or cooking cheaply. God knows why, I'm useless at both.

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 11/09/2017 22:18

I love a Woo thread. We haven't had a good one in ages and ages.
