To think it is impossible to stop teenage boys feeling hungry?

Ok shameless post here for the traffic. But anyone managed to find relatively healthy ways to keep teenage boys feeling full? I have 2 who are just perpetually hungry and need some ideas on how to fill them better than I am.

I'd like to know as well. My oldest is 13. He's always hungry! The other two boys are 8 and 10. I predict that they'll be a plague of locusts in 3 years.

Cheap stodgy from the supermarket and big boxes of weetabix.

Oh. And pasta. Lots of pasta and spuds.

You really can't do it massively healthy because they want insta food.

Well, maybe if you had unlimited budget but I didn't.

I bought cheap biscuits from Asda / Lidl - value savers type cookies.

Cheap pizzas that just need bunged in oven.

Cheap pasta sauce to put over with cheese

I used to count DS as 2x adult potions when I was doing my budgets and meal plans.

I just kept the fridge full of veggie sticks and easy to grab fruit along with cheese portions and yoghurts. They want instant food so will just grab it. Plenty of carbs in their meals too.

Thanks folks - one of them doesn't like pasta or baked potatoes. Will definitely try cubes of cheese in the fridge. I agree the key is instant food. They are both very slim as well - it's a wonder to behold really where all the food goes.

I don't know why teenage boys are always hungry but i'd guess that they are very efficient at burning carbs so I'd try to really up their protein instead, and good fats.
Eggs, loads of eggs, and cooked chicken in the fridge.

A big tub of coronation chicken
Any leftovers from previous evening
Cold cooked sausages to reheat
Fish fingers in freezer
Pizza
Frittata
Crumble
More crumble

They can certainly empty a fridge in minutes. It doesn't seem to stop when their in their 20s either.

Protein and fat. Stodgy carbs do not fill you up for long.

Toast with scrambled egg for breakfast
Apple & nuts for snack
Baked potato and cheesey beans for lunch

Couple any carb with a protein too and it should help the feel full for longer.

my boy cooks any type of eggs, with halloumi, avocado or bacon, cheese toasties, chicken wings I always have lots of yoghurts, pitta bread, hummus, cocktail sausages, mini pork pies, fruit, weetabix available for him too.

Actually I think I might be not giving enough protein. Doesn't it get expensive with all the chicken? Any other sources of protein? Have already for more cheese on my shopping list

My boy is only 9 but I'm watching this with interest as he is growing so fast and always has his head in the fridge!

My mum used to keep a massive tub of chicken and bacon pasta or tuna pasta in our fridge for my brother. Funny, I've not thought about that in years!

It's like having a Very Hungry Caterpillar on Saturday. Mine is on 2 breakfasts, snack, packed lunch, school lunch, snack, tea, dinner, supper. Skinny as heck and growing taller at a terrifying rate. It's just what they do.
Carbs, chicken, baked 'crisps', cheese...

My ds1 is the same. We've just got back from the pub where he's had a 3 course meal!! He's so lanky and skinny I don't know where he puts it all. He easily has a bigger dinner than my dh!!!
I remember us going out for dinner when he was still in the high chair and us getting him an adult meal. The waitress couldn't believe her eyes!!
I'm really lucky as ds1 is quite health conscious anyway and will happily grab an apple or a carrot.
I tend to make sweet buns then put jam, honey or chocolate spread in. Half his dinner plate is then veg/salad.

For protein:

Chicken drumsticks are cheaper than breasts, if you can get loads, cook them on oven and keep them cold in the fridge to be pulled out and gnawed at.

Peanut butter is a good one. On toast, rice cakes, oatcakes, crackers or with veggies as a dip.

Sausages: cook lots up and keep them cold in the fridge.

Eggs: hard-boiled and kept cold as a snack

Tinned fish (tuna/ sardines/ mackerel/ rollmops) is good if they'll eat it, in a sandwich or just from the tin.

Mine love burritos.
I've just cooked 2kg of chicken breast with spices and tinned tomatoes in the slow cooker. Then shred it and portion it up I freeze some and leave the rest in the fridge. They grab and wrap stuff with the chicken and cheese, there's also microwave rice from lidl if the want.

Frittata made with potatoes bacon and cheese 8 eggs. Cut into wedges and leave cold in the fridge.

Good lord I'm reading this and feeling seriously concerned; DS1 is 11 and is already 5'7", I'm dreading once he reaches the secondbreakfast stage because his meal sizes are already the same size as mine.
