Inspired by another thread discussing mother being 40+

Just wondered what age your dh was when trying to conceive your last child?

and is 43 too old?

I was 41 and that was plenty old enough! I wouldn't want the funding of a child at University and after in my late 60's unless I was loaded.

I know it's a huge spectrum of ages but I'm struggling to get my head around 60yo having newborns. I'm 30 and my last ever child is 6, my dad is 53. Of course everyone is different, but it would be like him announcing a pregnancy in 7 years!

Writerwannabe83 · 09/09/2017 19:57

DH was 34 when we were actively TTC.

He told me that if pregnancy hadn't occurs by the time he was 35 then we would stop TTC as that was his cut off point in terms of him then being too old to have more children.

Figgygal · 09/09/2017 19:58

Dh 40 I was 35

InsomniacAnonymous · 09/09/2017 20:14

He was 44, I was 36.

Crispmonster1 · 09/09/2017 20:15
  1. And he is brilliant.
DramaAlpaca · 09/09/2017 20:15

He was 35.

InsomniacAnonymous · 09/09/2017 20:16

Btw, that was our only child.

KimKatCourtney · 09/09/2017 20:16

43 with dc2 not sure we are done yet either

honeylulu · 09/09/2017 20:17

When we had our youngest I was 40 (a few days later) and H was 54.
We didn't plan it like that - secondary fertility - but no regrets!

IcelandicWarriors · 09/09/2017 20:18
  1. I was 33. I want another now but he is 50.
Sunbeam18 · 09/09/2017 20:22

BakedBeans47 · 09/09/2017 20:25

33 (I was 35)

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 09/09/2017 20:33

DH was 30.

I do honestly think it's not ideal for a man to target children in his 50s plus - aside from the added risk of birth defects and disabilities there's old age striking when the child is just a teenager, the risk of needing care, significant chance of ill health, less energy...etc.

RainbowPastel · 09/09/2017 20:36

41 when DC2 was born.

seven201 · 09/09/2017 20:39

33, I was 34

5BlueHydrangea · 09/09/2017 20:42

Dh was 63 when we had dd. conceived her very easily but then suffered with secondary infertility and didnt manage any more - were hoping for 1 more.

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 09/09/2017 20:44

43

feelingblue123 · 09/09/2017 20:47

I'm 35 weeks pg. DP is 43 yrs old. It's his 3rd kid, my 1st. Was a shock to him but I think hes getting his head around it. His current youngest is 12.

LostInMess · 09/09/2017 20:47

42 when TTC our last. It took a month.

He was, however, 46 when our youngest was born. Oops.

I was probably more concerned about his age than him (am 5 years younger so not exactly a spring chicken myself when DC4 was born) but it's not made much difference. We are both permanently knackered but i think that is more related to the 4 DC.

SimplyPut · 09/09/2017 20:53

Dh was 38 when we began ttc, 41when DD was born.

Firenight · 09/09/2017 20:53

47 (I'm over a decade younger). Would love another but 50 was his limit.

MaryShelley1818 · 09/09/2017 20:58

I'm 26wks pregnant with our first...I'll be 39 when he's born and DP will be 41.
Will hopefully have a little sibling in a year or so too.
