Me dh three teens (one with sn)and a toddler. Haven't been away on long haul for years. It's just on my budget £3,500 for 7 days. Any good? Any input would be appreciated 👍🏻

You could do it for around £1K less but the accommodation and vehicle wouldn't be as good. So if it's what you want go for it.

MongerTruffle · 03/09/2017 14:51

I would go for it but you could probably get a holiday in Orlando for less.

Windbeneathmybingowings · 03/09/2017 14:52

I think that's good, esp inclusive of flights for 6 of you.

smellybeanpole · 03/09/2017 14:53

The car I wouldn't care so much. But the accommodation needs to have a private pool because of my dd with sn. So I should keep shopping Around?

Could definitely do it for a bit less but not to the same standard. That looks like a very lovely Villa! If its in your budget I'd go for it. Orlando is wonderful.

Namechangetempissue · 03/09/2017 14:57

I think that's pretty good. I spent about 9k on a two week holiday to Orlando in 2015 in August (so prime time) but that was literally everything from ESTAs, spending money, all park tickets, meals etc.

smellybeanpole · 03/09/2017 14:58

Oh I'm glad I've got it right. Ive been looking for ages. Apart from Disney and beeches what else can you do there?

Your dates are in term time - three teens but none of them doing exams (external or internal) in June next year?

Or are you not in England/Wales?

RonSwansonsMoustache · 03/09/2017 15:03

Those are term-time dates though. Do none of your teens have exams?

Namechangetempissue · 03/09/2017 15:06

Loads to do. We horse ride, go on airboat tours and visit all the usual parks, universal, disney and the waterparks, Busch Gardens, Legoland, Kennedy Space Centre. I love Orlando.

Namechangetempissue · 03/09/2017 15:07

You may get stuck with American school holidays though OP -I know some are June. Parks are usually busy then.

smellybeanpole · 03/09/2017 15:09

Older teen exams finish in may(college). Teen with sn has no exams. 13 year old has no exams those that week and then toddler obviously no issues. My two teens are young carers so have been able to get that one week off for a holiday. Can't do it any other dates unfortunately.

You will be thoroughly ripped off with a villa from virgin.
Try trailfinders to get flights and car hire then book villa separately through Debbies Villas, use them Twice a year for Florida and they are fab. ALL of their villas will have private pools.
Don't forget that BA also fly to Florida now and are often cheaper

smellybeanpole · 03/09/2017 15:11

Name- perfect. Thank you. Will check those out. I hadn't thought about the US holidays. Sad

smellybeanpole · 03/09/2017 15:12

Take - thank you. I'm on it now.

Don't worry too much about the American school breaks though -the parks are so huge I have never found it too much of an issue (apart from Spring Break and Christmas!). You will be fine! Have a brilliant time.

PlinkyTheFairyWitch · 03/09/2017 15:20

I think I've seen that villa on a rip-off/holiday from hell show but I can't remember which and don't know for sure! Could just be they all look the same, but I recognise the pool. Worth doing a bit of checking before you book, though.

Namechangetempissue · 03/09/2017 15:22

Oh thats worrying Plinky -make sure you really check that OP. Would be awful to lose money and your holiday.

Permissiontofilm · 03/09/2017 15:24

So if a child is a young carer the rules about term time holidays can be relaxed ? Where would I find out more about this ? Thanks

BlondeB83 · 03/09/2017 15:26

Go for two weeks if you can, it won't cost much more as it's the flights that are the biggest part of the budget.

PolkaDotFlamingo · 03/09/2017 15:27

Allocation on arrival villas can be very poor. You'd be much better going to an owner direct. If you pm me I can give you a Facebook group that you could find a villa on and another one that will help you keep the costs down.

Out of school hols I think you could get it cheaper.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 03/09/2017 15:31

Is it a named Villa? I'd only book a named one in Florida, to many horror stories about ones from bed banks or allocated on arrival. Try an independent agent who'll have contracts for named Villas. Also, Thomas Cook flights are decent prices for next year depending where you fly ftom

EnglishGirlApproximately · 03/09/2017 15:32

Crossed with polka!

smellybeanpole · 03/09/2017 15:34

Pinky - thank you. Will def check that out.
I have no idea if it applies to all cares. But my dd has a sw and due to her recent difficulties we were given a letter to say we need a little r&r so the school didn't make too much of a fuss.

OP posts:
Hulababy · 03/09/2017 15:37

Does that include your park tickets?
Just thinking of your budget, if you say this is on the edge of it. Park tickets are very expensive.
