To be disappointed with cinema

Looking forward to next week as DS is back to school. Tried to book to go to the cinema one morning but earliest showings are 12.20! No good as have to be back for school run at 3.00. I've mentioned it to then via Twitter as got an unlimited card that can't use next week

I don't think bored SAHMs are their target audience!

witchofzog · 31/08/2017 17:21

Unfortunately cinemas tend to be deserted weekday mornings. They would lose money if they had screenings at that time. Most people who go in the morning tend to have kids and watch kids films but most of them will be back at school /nursery next week.

ooerrmissus · 31/08/2017 17:21

Well they ought to be!

gabsdot · 31/08/2017 17:24

Our local cinema has OAP screenings in the mornings for a discounted price and you get a cup of tea.
I asked once if I could go and pay full price but "computer said no"

OP if the movie starts at 12.20 surely it'll be finished ab around 2.30

heron98 · 31/08/2017 17:24

Unfortunately you are in a minority of people with time to fritter at the cinema on a weekday morning so it's not worth them showing films at that time.

scrabble1 · 31/08/2017 19:29

Wow harsh responses

Bored SAHM??

OP posts:
Gorgosparta · 31/08/2017 19:33

Harsh? Really?

A business isnt going to open if it wont be making money. They will open later.

Try another cinema?

traffordtimes · 31/08/2017 19:35

Only on mumsnet, could people get so bitter about you wanting to see a film during the day Grin. Maybe buy a DVD for a film you haven't seen instead, and some popcorn?

HLBug · 31/08/2017 19:36

Our local opens at 10am and regularly does 10.30/11am showings of non kiddy films. It's utterly blissful. I do nursery drop off, then go in via Starbucks and sit quietly for 2 amazing hours with hardly another soul there. Back out at lunchtime and do everything that needs done before pick up. YANBU OP. Maybe once the schools go back the timings will change?

araiwa · 31/08/2017 19:37

I tweeted my local nightclub because i fancied a dance at 2pm and they werent open Angry

VestalVirgin · 31/08/2017 19:41

Can you get a DVD from the library? Cheaper than buying. Smile

scrabble1 · 31/08/2017 19:41

I meant people's comments about me. Saying I am a bored SAHM when no one even knows my circumstances

OP posts:
PinkHeart5911 · 31/08/2017 19:41

God some bitter people about OP daring to see a film in the day 😂 Confused

OP it's a bit annoying for you but I doubt the cinema will care so your just have to put up with being a bored sahm Wink

Daydreamerbynight · 31/08/2017 19:42

Lol. The bitterness is strong on this post.

GoEasyPudding · 31/08/2017 19:43

Folk here are furious that you want to see a movie in the morning! How very dare you OP! I want to go and see movies early too but the showings seem to fit in with students instead.

Butterymuffin · 31/08/2017 19:44

Odd responses. It's not as if everybody works the same hours and full time. Plenty of people might want to go to the cinema in the morning. I have sometimes done it if working flexibly because it's cheaper than the evening when I'd need a babysitter.

OP I'd have a look at other cinemas. Some are better than others for this. And if your one is consistently no good, cancel your unlimited card.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 31/08/2017 19:48

The cinema my ds works at does early showings, but it's a bugger if there isn't one nearby op.
Ignore the twattishness, I'd love to go to a nice empty cinema and watch a film, in fact I did go to a 10.00 showing of Guardians of the Galaxy one Saturday all alone, there was 10 people in there and it was bliss.

alisonyawn · 31/08/2017 19:51

I assume with you having an unlimited card you're a part of Cineworld? I know our local cineworld has late morning showings i.e. 10:30 - 12ish start times.

YANBU for wanting earlier showings.
However they'll weigh up the cost of it and how long the film has been out etc.
YABU for thinking they'll put one showing on just for you. lol.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 31/08/2017 19:51

Oh always used to want to see early showings when I worked shifts.

Lots of bitter responses here!

araiwa · 31/08/2017 19:53

in fact I did go to a 10.00 showing of Guardians of the Galaxy one Saturday all alone, there was 10 people in there and it was bliss.

This is why many dont open this early. Noone goes and they lose money

bigmouthstrikesagain · 31/08/2017 19:53

Ouch getting third degree burns just reading this thread!

Op I have noticed this before with the amount of time wasted on adverts and trailers and the bloated length of films it can be difficult to do a daytime film and be back in time for school run. I suggest you rent a new release and turn the lights down in your living room, buy popcorn, recruit a couple of friends to sit behind you rustling, muttering and playing with their phones to recreate the atmosphere of the Cinema.

SerfTerf · 31/08/2017 19:54

I don't think bored SAHMs are their target audience!

That's pretty fucking rude. "Bored" anyone is their target audience isn't it?

Ttbb · 31/08/2017 19:55

Why not try a bigger one. The earliest showings at my local one are around 10

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 31/08/2017 19:56

The answer is clearly to have another baby and then you can go to Mother and Baby screenings. Can you borrow someone else's baby perhaps? Or improvise with a sling, and a heavily swaddled teddy bear with a muslin over its head.
