To still say 'cool'

in my thirties? I use it from time to time to similarly aged friends, not in formal or professional situations or anything, but have noticed, twice, rather Hmm reactions. I suppose I mean amused or condescending or mildly sarcastic reactions.
Is it because they think I'm too old to say it? Is it because it's old-fashioned? I don't even feel like I'm using slang when I say it because it's very much used in the creative industries my family's in, (though not me); it means on trend or carrying a certain cache, or being a touch rebellious to me. I could use other words, but cool naturally comes out!
I'm not about to stop saying it but...WHY shouldn't I?

I'm 24 and haven't used cool in a decade at least.

Maybe it's an oldies thing? grin

Really? What do you say then - assuming you can spell it?

I teach high school kids and they use it...

I'm 30 and say cool, awesome and the occasional "man" thrown in for good measure, I am from central Scotland though where the random Manning of sentences is pretty commonplace!

Reppin · 29/08/2017 17:29

It is a bit of a non-descript word, like nice.

Doobigetta · 29/08/2017 17:45

I'm 41 and I say "cool" all the time. I couldn't tell you how little I care if people under 30 think I'm not cool as a result.

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 29/08/2017 17:51

I still say "cool" sometimes but dd (18) has also converted me to "sick". I'm 40 and have no excuses 🙈👌🏻.
