They are everywhere. Neck. Back. Legs. Front. He had some mosquito bites two weeks ago, we all had, he seemed to have the most. Now he is covered in these. Started Friday. Any ideas?

Chicken pox

fannydaggerz · 28/08/2017 13:24

Looks like chicken pox to me.

stretch · 28/08/2017 13:27

Really? DH says so too. He did have chicken pox at 2 years. Not bad though.
Back history. DS is 9 years old. He has in the past 4/5 months had 10 separate colds. Had ear infection leading to mastoiditis. Had scarlet fever. Had severe weight loss for a while although he's really picking up now. His immune system is crappy and he starts back school tomorrow (first time since June.)

Agree with Chicken pox

divadee · 28/08/2017 13:59

You can catch chicken pox more than once if you have it mildly.

If you are unsure if it is or not take to the gp but do not sit in the waiting room. Leave your son in the car or ask for a private room if they have one until the gp can see you.

I will say again though it looks an awful lot like chicken pox.

FallingOrbit · 28/08/2017 14:06

Either chickenpox or hogweed burns. Has he been strimming grass in the last few days?

Nemesia · 28/08/2017 14:20

I think it looks like molluscum contagiosum.

Trb17 · 28/08/2017 14:24

Chicken pox look like "dew drops on rose petals" ... in other words a small liquid blister on a red pink patch.

Trb17 · 28/08/2017 14:25

But would agree with PP that it looks more like molluscum contagiosum to me too.

PineappleScrunchie · 28/08/2017 14:26

The little dip in the middle looks like molluscum

Namechangetempissue · 28/08/2017 14:28

They do look like molluscum -do they have what looks like a little pinprick or dent in the centre op?

stretch · 28/08/2017 14:43

I googled that molluscum and it does like so, although we have literally watched him in a couple of hours more have sprouted up.

It's behaving like chicken pox. One massive one to start. A slight temp and feeling unwell a few days ago. Slow spreading at first then loads cropping up.

Namechangetempissue · 28/08/2017 14:45

More like chicken pox then I think

dementedpixie · 28/08/2017 14:47

Molluscum doesn't come up quickly like that so if there are new ones appearing all the time it's not likely to be that.

XiCi · 28/08/2017 14:48

Friends dd had molloscum and looked just like that.

dementedpixie · 28/08/2017 14:49

Its not behaving like molluscum though.

sadiemm2 · 28/08/2017 14:49

If they are springing up in front of your eyes, that'll more likely be chicken pox. Just a gentle reminder to avoid ibuprofen , there's a rare complication involved with pox/ibuprofen. Calpol calamine and oatmeal baths can soothe itch. Antihistamine too. Poor Chap

stretch · 28/08/2017 14:52

Thanks sadiemm2. I didn't know that. Thanks all of you too 💐💐 I think we'll treat as CP for now, infection wise, and get to Dr tomorrow to confirm.

FluffyPineapple · 28/08/2017 14:53

Looks like molluscum. However, if they are appearing in front of your eyes it could be chicken pox. It's difficult to say from a pic.

Are they itchy? Do they feel hard or more like a blister?

sadiemm2 · 28/08/2017 15:01

Admittedly, I've never seen mollusc um anywhere but chest and arm pit. What do the earlier blisters look like, have any broken and crusted yet, or still hard?

pistonpower · 28/08/2017 15:02

I have heard of Childhood Shingles? People who have had chickenpox get a reactivation of the virus? One of my friends daughters had it when she was about 9.

dementedpixie · 28/08/2017 15:03

Shingles are localised along the line of a nerve on one side of the body so this doesn't sound like that either

sadiemm2 · 28/08/2017 15:04

Piston power, my poor kiddo has had it several times, usually after steroid treatment for her asthma or bloody SATS.

stretch · 28/08/2017 16:23

Is that molluscum thing contagious? His brother usually shares a bed with him and he has none I can see. I don't want to separate them if need be, (his brother is 7 they are very close) and DS1 will want his brother there if he's not well 😔
