Met a friend in city centre (we live in big city so lots of food places to choose) it was a warm day so I suggested a cafe that does nice sandwiches/jacket potatoes.
It was a busy Saturday plus football match on so was busy.
We got in and friend stood in front of me in the quee ..I said "looks like only one jacket potato left"
Friend says "yep il be having that"
Then the girl serving says "that's the last of our food left, only scones left"
I said to friend "shall we go somewhere else?"
Friend says "no I can't be bothered now we are here...il take the jacket potato please"
I look at her and say "what shall I eat then a scone for my lunch? "
(Don't even like scones)
She says "yeah why not and smirks"
We sit down and I'm pretty pissed off ..I say "what was the point in that? We are surrounded by other places to eat"
She then says "oh Louisa stop making a fuss over eating"
Then scoffs down her jacket potato as I sip my bottle of water.

I'd arrange to meet her for lunch again.

I wouldn't show up, but I'd arrange to.

WitchesGlove · 28/08/2017 12:46

Sounds like a crap cafe!!

Louisajohnson237 · 28/08/2017 12:47

We were heading somewhere after lunch so I couldn't just walk off and leave her or we would have missed out.
We had our tickets already booked

The cafe is lovely, home made food, but obviously can't cope with busy days.

What cafe runs out of food?

Louisajohnson237 · 28/08/2017 12:48

She is pretty self obsessed if I'm honest

Confused she's not your friend. I don't know why people put up with stuff like this. I'd rather have no friends than friends like her.

BorisTrumpsHair · 28/08/2017 12:49

Yeah, she's not your friend.

Louisajohnson237 · 28/08/2017 12:49

This one obviously or I would of been tucking into a jacket potato with her Grin

'We were heading somewhere after lunch so I couldn't just walk off and leave her or we would have missed out.

Yeah you can. You're not beholden to hang out with anyone. This is why you have 'friends' who behave like dicks. So what if you had tickets booked? She didn't give a fuck about you. So you ditch her and then show up with your ticket and pretend she's no longer there. She asks why you tell her you don't associate with twats. Simple.

expatinscotland · 28/08/2017 12:50

'She is pretty self obsessed if I'm honest'

So drop her.

Shestolethewitchesredshoes · 28/08/2017 12:51

Surely a good friend would have offered you half or to go elsewhere? You met for lunch but didn't have lunch together. Not a 'friend' I would be making any more time for soon x

HundredMilesAnHour · 28/08/2017 12:51

I seem to be reading so many threads on here with people claiming to have friends who act anything but friendly. You need to get a bit more choosy whose company you keep. This woman would not be my friend.

This!!! Have people lost sight of what friendship really is? MN is full of threads with the OPs describing "friends" who are as far from being a friend as is humanly possible. Please get some self-respect and stop being doormats.

indulgentberries · 28/08/2017 12:52

Invite her to your house for lunch and then only cook enough for you. Offer her a stale scone instead.

foodiefil · 28/08/2017 12:53

What a knob head!

Gorgosparta · 28/08/2017 12:54

I would have said 'are you taking the piss?'

Viviennemary · 28/08/2017 12:54

I'd have gone somewhere else that had food. And had the nicest meal there and hoped her jacket potato was horrible and been there since yesterday since it was the last one. Some folk!

LittleScaredyCat · 28/08/2017 12:54

That is really mean Shock.

Viviennemary · 28/08/2017 12:56

Grin at indulgentberries

Originalfoogirl · 28/08/2017 12:57

No way I would have stayed, no way I would have waited for her to finish then gone somewhere else. I wouldn't If I had the tickets I'd have been off without her, or if she had the tickets I'd have gone home. How much fun can something be after being treated like that.

Some people will treat others as a doormat. Some people will let them and moan about it. I wouldn't say either of them is in the right.

CoraPirbright · 28/08/2017 13:05

I would wait for her to contact you again and then say "given your disgusting behaviour the last time we met, I have absolutely no interest in being friends with you any more". Ditch her!! Good manners would mean I wouldnt treat someone I hated and despised like that, let alone someone who is supposed to be a friend.

BlueberryPuffin · 28/08/2017 13:05

Some people on mumsnet have really terrible "friends".

notsmartenough · 28/08/2017 13:18

That's really selfish of her.
I went to lunch with a friend once. She could have the pick of the menu but I could only have soup or something soft as I'd just had dental treatment.
The cafe had nothing suitable left for me so we just went somewhere else, obviously, because my friend wasn't a dick.

tiredybear · 28/08/2017 13:22

she is not your friend. don't make arrangements to see her again.
