To think now is not the time to employ someone to clip your hedge

Neighbours have got garden company in who started clipping the hedge with noisy strimmers at 8am on bank holiday Monday. Our bedroom is at the front and it's boiling here so windows open.

Neighbours are nowhere to be seen and IWBU to be angry with gardeners. DD only 7 days old so my judgement may be impaired but DH had just taken her after feed so that I could nap Sad

It doesn't seem to be a bank holiday for everyone weirdly. Building site next to us is in full flow and couple of garden firms are out

It is a Bank Holiday, not a Public Holiday. Lots of people are wo rk as normal today. Also. the end of May holiday is a Bank Holiday, the first Monday in May (May Day) is a Public Holiday.

8am is not early - I'm up at 6.45am every day, even weekends - love it :)

Gunny Get yourself to Germany, it's against the law to mow the lawn and even put washing out on a Sunday/bank holiday.

Shock

Wow.

Mowing the lawn at least makes a noise - but laundry????!!!
I used to think Germany sounded a great place to live but this is just awful! How over-intrusive and interfering!! So if you work the rest of the week you have to buy a dryer? Or you're like me and disabled so can't always do everything on certain days - fuck you, no laundry this week for you!
Gobsmacked at how stupid this is.

I think all noisy things should be banned before 9am every day. I've had next door (ignorant selfish fuckers in general) start DIY drilling into my bedroom wall at 7am, and a few days of road workers digging up the tarmac metres from my (ground floor) bedroom window, again 7am start. That one actually made me ill with the lack of sleep and inability to escape the noise.

If I could afford to pay someone to trim my bush the hour wouldn't really bother me.

MaisyPops · 28/08/2017 09:31

9am is fair game on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Not so much before that.

As an early riser, i have to accept that others love a lie in so I can't do certain things on a morning. No way would I be waiting until 10 though. That's most of the morning gone.

ethelfleda · 28/08/2017 09:34

8am is fine.
Please stop being so intolerant of others getting on with their lives.

I completely agree with this. In fact, may of the moans on here are because people believe their right to be annoyed supersedes other people's rights to get on with their lives!
