AIBU to think me neighbour is pathetic

DS's have been in the garden a lot enjoying the nice weather we've had the last few days. They've had stuff in the garden to okay with, this includes a small swimming pool, baby/toddler trampoline, loads of outdoor small toys and a few footballs.

All 'small items' e.g the footballs and small toys, are put into the boys toy box in the shed along with the trampoline when they've finished playing (usually after tea time). I've left the pool out each night because it won't fit in the shed and obviously I'm not leaving it in my living room all night?!

Neighbour sent her boyfriend round this morning to tell me to move my swimming pool as she doesn't like the sight of it. The gardens aren't connected (we have a shared bin alley between the gardens) the fences are the high ones, and how on earth is this effect her so much?!?! AIBU? Is she a fucking loon?

Maybe the boyfriend worded it badly? It is not the appearance that troubles her -the reason she doesn't like looking at it.
Maybe she is worried about something drowning in it - maybe a child or an animal ...maybe it brings back bad memories of an accident. Even if it left empty if it rains it could fill up - or maybe she is just worried that it could.
(Or she could just be an interferring PIA -you probably have a good idea from previous encounters - in that case I would go with allthe's suggestion)

@AllTheWittyNamesAreGone has the best plan of action Grin

temporarilyjerry · 27/08/2017 16:14

As a couple, they are a perfect match. If you asked your OH to pop next door and ask the NDN to move their pool, what would he/she do? DH would look at me like this:- Hmm.

NicolasFlamel · 27/08/2017 16:17

What did your OH say? I would have thought it was a joke and laughed!

NicolasFlamel · 27/08/2017 16:18

*sorry what did you say to her OH?

Sayyouwill · 27/08/2017 16:22

Unless it has a giant swastika painted on it I don't see how it's appearance can be upsetting

Just to get this clear this is your own private garden?

gillybeanz · 27/08/2017 16:37

I hope you told him what you did with your own property was up to you.

Ceto · 27/08/2017 16:39

Do tell us what you said to the boyfriend.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 27/08/2017 16:40

I do hope your OH said "Well, if you don't like the sight of the kids paddling pool, I'd suggest you stop looking at it then" and close the door.

Or was there another response?

WhatchaMaCalllit · 27/08/2017 16:42

Sorry - misread the opening post - thought it was your OH that answered the door to the boyfriend. As above but with you saying it instead Smile

IrritatedUser1960 · 27/08/2017 16:42

What? What a loony. What business is it of hers what you have in your garden? A 30 foot clown looming over her patio then maybe but a swimming pool???
Weird.

MrsMeeseeks · 27/08/2017 16:44

LOL, what a weirdo! Smile, nod, ignore.

Outlookmainlyfair · 27/08/2017 16:51

Yes, she is a loon. Yes, interested in your response now.

Sunferra · 27/08/2017 17:01

I'd like to say to her, 'Don't you think that's inappropriate behaviour -watching your neighbour's children in a paddling pool all day?'

Stinkycleanhouse · 27/08/2017 17:14

How weird! Ignore!

ProseccoMamam · 27/08/2017 17:28

I was gob smacked and shut the door in his face? I couldn't even think of anything to say back to him?

The arrangement of toys has got me thinking! I am really really tempted to have some sort of huge ugly display in my garden facing in her houses direction🤣 I haven't had any communication with them since moving in, this is the first I've heard. Hope I don't end up on the nightmare neighbours next door programme🙈

I think I'll have to accept that they are a very weird and very nosey family and avoid them at all cost. Sorry for the late reply I've been in my garden with the kids being a terrible neighbour and letting the children have a pool🤔

Maelstrop · 27/08/2017 17:38

Utterly batshit!!

ImDoingLaundry · 27/08/2017 18:02

Could you arrange the toys in such a way that they spell something rude? What a prize nutjob your neighbour is!

angelnix · 27/08/2017 18:05

I'd get a bigger paddling pool tbh

NicolasFlamel · 27/08/2017 18:32

Yes get an absolutely giant splash pool!

sparklefarts · 27/08/2017 18:40

Whaaat?!? I was reading that and thought 'oh it must be flats and they share a garden'
But no, your neighbour is just batshit. I'd have to retaliate by getting a bigger paddling pool. And possible leave the old one out during winter too.

StayGoldPonyBoy · 27/08/2017 19:05

Get a second paddling pool and a slip and slide to make a gigantic phallic water feature for her to enjoy Grin weirdo. Is she just staring into your garden from her bedroom window all day?

Ttbb · 27/08/2017 19:10

Just tell them to f* off. If is your property, provided that you are or interfering with theirs (e.g. Smoking or playing loud music) they have no right to even care. If she doesn't like it she can look away.
