Sharing my bedroom with a mouse ...

Jojo267 · 23/08/2017 22:07

So for the past two months I've heard rustling noises in my bedroom when I've turned the lights off.
As if something was walking around, noises on my chest of drawers on my cabinet etc.
A couple of times I think I've seen something out of corner of eye but when I look it's gone.
Today I'm sat in bed and out the corner of eye see something dark grey climbing from floor up my dressing table ..I look and can't see anything.
5 mins later ...I see a mouse running along my floor.
I've been sharing my room with a mouse and now it's on the loose.
I'm terrified

I'm really good at catching mice since my cats keep bringing them in. Plastic box, stalk mouse, drop box over, slide card under, remove.

Jojo267 · 23/08/2017 22:10

I hate not knowing where it is...I'm scared it will crawl on me whilst asleep

Think logically. You've been sharing your room with it for a couple of months right and what harm has come to you? None right? If you watch them they are actually quite cute and entertaining

having said mice rats spiders don't bother me but I know they do others

Twiggy71 · 23/08/2017 22:10

And breathe... Shock

OurMiracle1106 · 23/08/2017 22:11

And I doubt little Mickey Mouse will crawl on you whilst you sleep he's going to be hungry and looking for food Cake

Jojo267 · 23/08/2017 22:12

I'm the biggest wimp going.
I scream when I see a fly Blush

shudder

Sympathies. This Rentokil Advanced Mouse Trap is great. Just add a pea size bit of peanut butter and you'll catch the mice in no time. And you don't have a mouse I'm afraid, but mice.

Jojo267 · 23/08/2017 22:15

Where do they come from?
My bedroom does have a LOT of clutter ..could this attract it?
I don't have much storage space

missmollyhadadolly · 23/08/2017 22:16

At least 5. Catch them quick as they can breed every 6 weeks or something.

Jojo267 · 23/08/2017 22:16

Oh god 😱

This freaked me and DH out when it happened as we had no idea what it was. Eventually managed to switch the light on quick enough to see it.

dangermouseisace · 23/08/2017 22:20

mice are attracted to dry warm places with food. E.g. houses.

Clutter makes them more difficult to catch, but you could be a minimalist and still have mice.

Triskaidekaphilia · 23/08/2017 22:20

Oops I didn't finish... had to send the cats in in the dark to get it. Luckily our hunter cat has the softest mouth and didn't harm it, got him to drop it into a cup and put it out. Can you borrow a cat?

Sunshinegirls · 23/08/2017 22:20

There's no way it'll come near you, it'll be terrified of you! Forget about it then go out tomorrow and buy a trap. Once you've caught it, set the trap again as there's probably more than one.

WorraLiberty · 23/08/2017 22:21

These are fantastic.

A pack of 2 costs about a tenner.

We lived in an old house and had a problem with mice they would come in via the cellar and once or twice I found them.in bedrooms it's horrid. Get a trap and seal up every hole in the house walls that's larger than pencil width or they can fit through. Make sure you don't eat upstairs and keep all food in kitchen in sealed containers.

OurMiracle1106 · 23/08/2017 22:24

The good news is that if you have a mouse you won't have rats as they won't live in close proximity of each other. (Rats will eat mice)

Jojo267 · 23/08/2017 22:24

I'm going to buy some traps tomorrow then book into the premier inn till they are caught.
Il never sleep tonight now.
I'm going to take quilt downstairs and block the gaps under the door just incase

OurMiracle1106 · 23/08/2017 22:25

If you're concerned mice don't like the smell of peppermint so that might ease your mind. Bit of toothpaste in a glass etc just for tonight.

Jojo267 · 23/08/2017 22:25

I don't have a cat ..I have a dog..any good?

OP posts:
Jojo267 · 23/08/2017 22:26

Feel like throwing toothpaste all over myself and quilt just incase Grin

Feathers from large birds are supposed to deter them. Magpies, owls etc.

chips4teaplease · 23/08/2017 22:26

There's no way it'll come near you, it'll be terrified of you!
One ran all the way along my back...

Sunshinegirls · 23/08/2017 22:27

Chips4tea, I was trying to make jojo feel better! 😂
