Thank you flikka. Will look into wallets now.
Trying to do it on my phone. Need to make some money before I can diversify but ether looks most promising as a start off for now from the research I have done.

Flikka40 · 13/01/2018 16:38

Sorry I misread your message - thought you were buying 100 ether at around £90,000 Grin.

Ethereum is a good coin. Its blockchain is being used by other tokens and I think it has longevity (but no guarantees of course).

MNOverinvestor · 13/01/2018 16:52

Here's an article that we can all come together and enjoy (and doubtless take different things away with us Grin). I'm neither part of the 94% (am ok about this) or the 95% (alas) but nor do I fit into the any of the developer, libertarian, Redditors or cypherpunks brackets...

£100 of investment - that's my sort of entry level... Bittylicious has worked well for me. Myetherwallet www.myetherwallet.com/ held my ether (until I decided to get a Nano Ledger). For small sums it's probably ok.

MNOverinvestor · 13/01/2018 17:45

That should be not part of the 4% who own 95% of the wealth. Doh...

NeversayNever2 · 13/01/2018 21:47

Nationwide doesn't accept transfers now from coinbase.

My money is trapped. They won't verify my account so I can't get my money back.
A few hundred that I would like returned now! Just bear this in mind if you you buy.

Viviennemary · 13/01/2018 23:45

So how will you get your money back. This Coinbase sounds a really dodgy outfit to me. Still I'm told by all those knowledgeable posters that I'm just a scaremongerer.

WickedGoodDoge · 14/01/2018 07:19

That sucks, Neversay . Years ago Barclays wouldn’t though anything that they thought had to do with Bitcoin, but I thought most U.K. banks were OK about it. I know it’s a hassle, but can you open a bank account somewhere else?

WickedGoodDoge · 14/01/2018 07:19

Wouldn’t touch

endofthelinefinally · 14/01/2018 07:43

Viviennemary
Adults can educate themselves and invest in whatever they choose.
There is plenty of fraud and manipulation going on in the city and the banks using conventional currency.
I am very happy with my bitcoin profits that are now sitting in my bank account. I used a reputable exchange with no problems at all.
Money laundering was a big problem well before cryptocurrency. Criminals will always find ways.

endofthelinefinally · 14/01/2018 08:16

I will, of course, be paying my CGT.

Sokuto · 14/01/2018 11:38

Viv is so funny 😂

Flikka40 · 14/01/2018 11:48

Neversaynever, the problem lies with nationwide being a building society not a bank. Coinbase do say on the website they don't accept payments from nationwide as nationwide uses a third party to send payment. Have you contacted coinbase? We had tea same issue and they were helpful and resolved the issue, no problem.

Flikka40 · 14/01/2018 11:50

Viviennemary, coinbase isn't dodgy. Stop trying to discredit something you know nothing about.

endofthelinefinally · 14/01/2018 12:01

I second the advice to contact coinbase. They will be able to pay your money into a proper bank. Just not a building society.

WickedGoodDoge · 14/01/2018 12:42

I did a quick Google and this came up from the other direction (Coinbase now not accepting money from Nationwide) but I would assume it’s the same reason for withdrawals - basically expands a bit on what Flikka said.

I have to admit that I enjoy vivs Phrophet Of Doom messages 😆

I was called a Jeremiah at work once. Can't think why. Grin But I stand by my condemnation of Bitcoin as a scam and a bubble. I went on a couple of forums. And some of those posters. Who has indoctrinated them?

One or two bought in at the highest point and are now worrying. But are told just hold on and it will be 100K at the end of the year. And one said it will solve youth unemployment because in future unemployed youth round the world can just buy and sell bitcoin. Problem solved. This is all going to end in tears.

Flikka40 · 14/01/2018 18:41

Viviennemary, I bought low and have 4x my initial investment. I trade between coins on a very part time amateur basis and I enjoy the challenge and the rewards. As with all investing there are risks and many people can lose a lot of money but if you are careful and do your due diligence you can make decent money from cryptos at the moment. I think the bubble will burst and the good coins will stay, many will go- just like the dotcom bubble. Being cognizant of this means I take out my initial investment as soon as I have doubled it.

cozietoesie · 14/01/2018 18:58

Giving any 'profit' to good causes?

WickedGoodDoge · 14/01/2018 19:01

Oh, can I answer that one? Pick me!!!! Please, please, please, please, please??!?!?!?!

I added a fair amount of Doge after buying DD 1900 for the specific purpose of charitable donation. It’s one of the fundamentals of the Doge community.

Good shibes. Much wow.

endofthelinefinally · 14/01/2018 19:03

I can't see that day trading, stocks and shares, forex etc are any better or worse than trading cryptocurrencies.

Viviennemary · 14/01/2018 19:26

Hedge betting is probably not so bad for dabblers. But taking out loans and buying any kind of cyber coin is beyond madness. Not saying any of you so sensible folk do this but people are doing it and I think it's wrong. I'd feel guilty taking profits off the back of people in those poorer countries who think that these Bitcoins and the like will make them multi millionaires. It will come down in a spectacular crash when they hit the dust. Puts away crystal ball for time being.

MNOverinvestor · 14/01/2018 19:30

latest 'bitcoin is useless & shit news' from the, er, bitcoin conference, which says that bitcoin is too useless & shit for them to accept it as a payment means for tickets.
