To think it's vulgar not to close your blinds at night?

So I'm not stared at every time I leave my house and don't see moobs when I let the cat in.

The front of all the houses on my drive completely overlook each other and the bedroom and living room windows are the same width of the room and 3/4 the height. You can see everything in the houses opposite. The backs aren't overlooked so people tend to angle the front blinds so you can't see in and open the back.

NDN have always kept their blinds downstairs fully open doesn't help with constantly yappy dog but that's a different story and it annoys me with them sat in the window all day and night looking out but I can live with it.

Newish family opposite keep living room and bedroom blinds pulled back, lights on till about 2am. I mean each to their own but would you really want to be on display to the whole street?

Just gone to let DCat in and bloke opposite is on full show in the bedroom, blinds pulled right back, moobs out scratching his arse. It's not the first time. Now he's unfortunately got my attention, I've angled my blinds to see out and he's walked in and out 3 times turning the light on and off going nowhere near the blinds to close them.

I was worried when I first moved in if people could see me in the bathroom through the blinds.

AIBU to think it's polite to close the blinds and not have your life and scratching your arse on full view or is it each to their own?

I love looking in blindless windows when out walking at night. I'd never stop and stare or would I? and it's always just as I walk past, there's no stopping or binoculars but I do like to see how other people have decorated their houses! Obviously if anyone was naked/shagging/picking their nose and eating it I'd avert my eyes, but other than that, people do just tend to be sat watching telly or reading a book Wink
That said, my blinds and/or curtains are shut as soon as it's dark I want to pick my nose in peace Grin

You angled your blinds?

BeachyKeen · 22/08/2017 01:13

I give no fuck who sees into my house. It is clean, bright and cheerful. The worst they might see is friends and family around on a visit, or us tucked up watching a bit of Midsomer Murders

My DP is always closing the blinds ... I grew up in a house which was overlooked by the occasional sparrow and that was it ... so I'm just a bit unaware and always forget.
Unless he's flashing his bits at you I don't see why you can just ignore it and stop staring at them through your blinds ?

There's an awful lot of arse scratching in your neighbourhood. Do you all have fleas?

Yanbu . Your getting some odd responses on here OP. Your post is at 10pm.it will be dark..the lights are on and so they are literally in a spot light and he is scratching his arse!! Especially in the close proximity you have described, that's awful. I agree if they want to leave their lights on and blinds open at night ... Fine. But then they need to take responsibility that everyone can very easily see them and act accordingly. Children will be able to see aswell. What if next time it's not his arse and it's something else. When you live in such close approximate you need to be mindful of others as well as yourself, that's just common courtesy and why people don't scratch their arse at a cafe!. People can do what they want by all means, just close your blinds, if it's not suitable for others eyes !!!

I can understand downstairs windows.

I wouldn't do it myself just because I wouldn't people looking in at me. Come on all admit it - when you see an open window when you're walking past you can't help but look in!

Ah here it is - this is about you being nosy, then not liking what you see.

I can certainly help not looking into an open window! It doesn't occur to me. Even if a window is lit up and right on the street you still have to make an effort to turn your head, stare in and look for long enough that you catch more than a glimpse of who's doing what in there. And if you do that, you really can't complain about what you see.

I don't care about people leaving their blinds up. If you don't want to see something, don't look. Don't come out with the whole "I couldn't help but see it" line because it's bollocks and you know it.

More vulgar to nose in people’s windows and write posts on the internet about it.
