It's mild compared to some places on the internet.

I am getting hooked on Mumsnet chat but have to agree it can get very heated & downright nasty! I posted about feeding/watering local kids & ended up defending myself in capitals because a few posters were just not seeing what I had put! Felt judged & actually a bit upset, although it was interesting to see what others did.

But seriously, compared to some of the racist, misogynistic, anti-Muslim vitriol you get on parts of YouTube and other parts of the internet Mumsnet is mild. Why is it so shocking that Mumsnet is any different?

My suspicion is that people expect Mums to be somehow nicer, gentler and more accommodating. But why the hell should we be?

I am also on the fringes of another online 'community' which make you vipers look like pussies (another battle royal blew up there yesterday: I have done the online equivalent of a few sharp jabs with a hatpin and a hug for the wounded...)
