To ask about cars not on the car site?!

Happydays21 · 15/08/2017 09:36

Got no replies on car site so thought would try here.

Need a new car that has to have a big boot. Got a 7 seater touran at moment. Looking at Dacia Dusters and VW passats but just dont know what would be good.

Anyone able to help? Thanks.

Skodas have large boots too - Octavia estate is massive. Superb pretty good but most of the additional length goes in leg room for the back seat.

Happydays21 · 15/08/2017 11:55

Thanks for answering! Yes, I looked at them but they are really dear despite being Skoda! I think maybe because they are quite recent there arent many used ones around. Should have said that I am trying to go reasonably cheap - otherwise I would have a Porsche Cayenne or Volvo XC90!

Second hand Audi A6? My husband has a Berlingo. It's hideous but the boot is massive! What about a Passat Estate?

rabbitcakes · 15/08/2017 11:58

Try pistonheads. Despite their poor reputation on here, they really are a good bunch of people who know their eggs.

Happydays21 · 15/08/2017 12:01

I've never heard of pistonheads so will look it up. Iwould love an Audi so will look them up too and Berlingos although not sure if I want hideous! Thanks

Budget? How many seats do you need? What kind of driving/mileage do you do?

IamDBCooper · 15/08/2017 12:03

We have a merc e class estate and the boot is huge. We easily fitted a sofa from ikea in the boot with the seats down. We've also camped 2 adults 5 and 1 year old and fitted everything in. Fab boot

BoysofMelody · 15/08/2017 12:03

How much are you prepared to spend?

What do you want it for?

What fuel type?

How many seats do you need?

Manual or Automatic?

Stoptherideiwannagetoff · 15/08/2017 12:04

Kia carens is a good value 7 seat

BoysofMelody · 15/08/2017 12:04

What body shape (hatchback, saloon or estate)?

SlaveToDisney · 15/08/2017 12:04

I think we need to know how many seats you need and what sort of driving will be done in the vehicle town driving/long commutes and also what's your budget?

otterlynutty · 15/08/2017 12:05

Dacia's very basic inside, if you're used to VWs you may find them to not be great quality.
Skoda Superb estates have HUGE boots.

Happydays21 · 15/08/2017 12:06

Well, we have a 7 seater touran at the moment (diesel) but dont really need the 7 seats as the children are getting too big for them really. Dont want diesel either. Love the big boot though for going away on holiday.

What has this got to do with AIBU? Angry

GrumpyInsomniac · 15/08/2017 12:09

We have a Seat Alhambra which is technically a seven seater, but is used by us as a 5 seater because we need a massive boot for my power chair and the electric hoist that lifts it in.

It has a big boot, and you can actually seat 5 adults comfortably in the car, or you can put down the middle row of seats as well and make the boot even bigger with a good flat loading space.

Mine came through Motability, but there may well be second hand models available at a sensible price, and it's basically a VW underneath.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/08/2017 12:09

Pistonheads is a long established car and blokey chat site.

Have you looked at PCP on a new Skoda Octavia estate? They do some brilliant 0%, servicing included deals from time to time. I have't looked for used ones for ages, but a few years ago I got an ex lease one for just over £6k, which I though was brilliant value, considering the lease company wanted over £10k for another one I'd just finished leasing from them

lovelyupnorth · 15/08/2017 12:14

I got a brilliant deal on a skoda superb - much better spec than the eqv price Audi or Passat.

Skoda Yeti or the new kodiaq would be good to look.

we are looking at a Duster for a second car - the decent spec ones still cheap.

BoysofMelody · 15/08/2017 12:16

It is hard to help when we don't have even basic details of what you want the car for!

There are very few makes of car out there that are absolute lemons, but some will suit your needs better than others, without knowing what your needs are, we can't help!

n0ne · 15/08/2017 12:18

We got an Opel (Vauxhall) Astra estate a few years back specifically due to boot size. It's a great car - only 1.6 litre so economical, but decent acceleration and speed, good on long distances, and roomy.

DorisMcSweeney · 15/08/2017 12:22

The Bentley Bentaygo is roomy and has good build quality.

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 15/08/2017 12:26

Had a duster - hated it - basic and not as roomy inside as I thought. Also felt like it was v flimsy and would topple over in high winds ( we live near the highest motorway in the UK ). DP said he wasn't happy as he didn't feel it was safe ( even going round sharp corners / bends ). Got a focus now.

DappledThings · 15/08/2017 12:27

Honda CRV. DH did a load of research into all the cars in that class earlier this year and it came out as by far the biggest boot. Fits all our camping stuff.

Londonyardwork · 15/08/2017 12:30

Whats your budget ?
How many seats do you currently need ?
Roughly how many miles per year ?
Second hand ? New ?

Noone can help till you clarify these points

BoysofMelody · 15/08/2017 12:33

Are you looking to buy outright or lease?

Also do you want to keep it long term?

Do you live in a city or town?

Are you going to be using it for a daily commute?
