To set up a new soft play model, where alcohol is served

It is hell on earth. Wine is the only thing I can think would improve it. WIBU to set up a new soft play place that serves alcohol? 3 drink max I think, just to keep things civilised. I think I will call it Soft Play and Hard Liquor. Fried goods served at all times. What could go wrong?

In my day all soft play centres were in pubs. Seems we were lucky.

DavidPuddy · 14/08/2017 18:29

Booze is sold at soft play in Germany, if that helps sway you.

LaContessaDiPlump · 14/08/2017 18:29

They do that at the soft play at our holiday village in Belgium. We sit and sip beer while the children frolic. It's bloody wonderful Grin

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 14/08/2017 18:29

Haha- they should put down a shot of tequila with the sign in sheet at the counter!

Belleende · 14/08/2017 18:30

Feckin brexit. We have so much to learn from our continental cousins

Loads of soft play serve alcohol! You need to swap venues

sirfredfredgeorge · 14/08/2017 18:33

Plenty of them in the UK, as well as all sorts of local pubs and chains, many of the nationals have it too, try searching www.brewersfayre.co.uk/kids-and-play also 50% of the pubs in the country have outside play areas...

HensAndRabbits · 14/08/2017 18:34

I take my kids to a soft play that becomes adults soft play on weekend evenings. It's really fun although I once dislocated my shoulder when my boss threw me down a drop slide. That was a fun work night out.

I'm not sure I'd want to be drunk while in soft play with kids. Stoned or sedated maybe.

Gorgosparta · 14/08/2017 18:36

There is a soft play in york that serves alcohol. And proper restaurant food.

Its really busy and i have never seen any even near tipsey. Never mind drunk.

Belleende · 14/08/2017 18:36

Soft play and hard drugs doesn't really have the same ring to it

I'll come and make the cocktails!

emma6776 · 14/08/2017 18:39

I went to an amazing kids play area in Monaco that had a cocktail and champagne bar. Do it!

Belleende · 14/08/2017 18:39

Soft play and bubbles?

I set up and owned a softplay centre. The biggest concern will be adults transporting children under the influence. Difference with a pub, is it's an adult premises with a facility for kids. In pubs there are usually strict timings involved so the adults don't stay for hours and get pissed. A child-centred softplay can potentially allow adults to stay as long as they like (esp in slack season) which could result in adults drinking more than is safe. As the licensed premises the licensee hold a duty of care. Not saying it's not a fab idea, but there are negatives to consider!!! If mine were that age again I'd be there like a shot!!!

luckylucky24 · 14/08/2017 18:42

There was supposed to be one near me that was built to hold the weight (and height) of adults and became an adult venue after a certain time. Never found it though, I think it was a rumour.

NancyJoan · 14/08/2017 18:45

With a mini bus service to drop you home.

JustDontGetItAtAll · 14/08/2017 18:47

They sell booze at one we go to in York? X

BikeRunSki · 14/08/2017 18:48

And one I have visited in Huddersfield.

gingergenius · 14/08/2017 18:49

@NancyJoan that's a great idea but it all adds to your costs which will push the price up and that never goes down well!

kel1234 · 14/08/2017 18:50

No soft play I've been to serves them. But I have heard of some (nowhere me unfortunately) that do.
I personally don't think they are hell on earth, but I wouldn't mind a nice drink while there.

Mittens1969 · 14/08/2017 18:52

There is such a place, it's called a whacky warehouse, lots of pubs have those attached these days. It only works if you're with friends so you can take turns to go for a drink.

We normally use it to keep the DDs entertained while waiting for our meals. But it means that you can have a drink.

AdmiralJaneway · 14/08/2017 18:53

There's one near me in Fareham! It could go with a good spruce up though.
