To set up a new soft play model, where alcohol is served

It is hell on earth. Wine is the only thing I can think would improve it. WIBU to set up a new soft play place that serves alcohol? 3 drink max I think, just to keep things civilised. I think I will call it Soft Play and Hard Liquor. Fried goods served at all times. What could go wrong?

All of them near me serve booze.

Wordsaremything · 14/08/2017 18:55

Booze or no booze, sounds like hell on earth to me.

I found a holiday resort a few years back that has big outdoor softplay type kids places that are open until midnight. They have a bar in the middle and the kids can bounce all night for 3 euros. I've been going back every year since.

Wordsaremything · 14/08/2017 18:57

Do pay heed to gingergenius though. One thing that could make the concept still worse is 'children under the influence.'

JuicyCake · 14/08/2017 18:58

Can't get my head around soft play... Looks like hell on earth. When was it invented? Deffo didn't exist when I were a nipper. We climbed trees...

Belleende · 14/08/2017 18:59

I have no issue with taking pissed kids anywhere.

My friend snuck wine into my DS' last birthday party. We all drunk it out of plastic cups. It was more nightmarish than usual and the wine was the only thing that stopped me losing my shit.

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 14/08/2017 19:04

link please where ...WHERE?

BurgundyCloak · 14/08/2017 19:07

Creepy Crawlies in York. Beer and pizza!

Belleende · 14/08/2017 19:10

I have considered sneaking booze in, but it just felt a bit dirty. Seems there is a north south divide

Another one here in the North.

Lovely soft play in the town centre serves alcohol.

agentdaisy · 14/08/2017 19:18

4 out of 6 of my nearest soft play are attached to pubs so you can have alcohol to numb the pain that is soft play. I've seen plenty of parents with a drink (in a plastic glass) but never anywhere near tipsy.

We went to a brilliant soft play in Cornwall that was for kids during the day and adults in the evening, it was absolutely huge. It made keeping an eye on toddler ds much more fun than in the tiny soft play places near where we are.

TmiTuesdays · 14/08/2017 19:23

I love it. Make sure there are lots of comfy chairs (place I go has the hardest most uncomfortable chairs in the world), recliners and sofas. Lean back, relax with drink, let kids exhaust themselves...god that sounds amazing. Please also include bar tapas.

Choccywoccyhooha · 14/08/2017 19:23

We have a softplay/clip n climb/ bowling place with a bar and decent food. It is actually a pleasure to visit, unlike almost all if the others. I can't stand the ones inside pubs, they always look grubby.

LinkPlease · 14/08/2017 19:28

Ach, ok, I was going to keep it secret but I'm rubbish at keeping secrets. Cala d'Or in Majorca and there's 2 of them, they call them funparks. The beaches are amazing too, long bays (or calas!) that are shallow for miles, there's also bars with crazy golf. It's kiddie heaven.

mctat · 14/08/2017 19:40

I've been to one in Cornwall too. Cake & prosecco (and other stuff). It was also the cleanest soft play I've ever witnessed!

ForalltheSaints · 14/08/2017 19:41

I'd come along if it was in walking distance!

Chattycat78 · 14/08/2017 21:00

Haha! I'd be up for this. Soft play sucks!

MumsOnCrack · 14/08/2017 21:01

Do it but make sure there are a lot of taxi numbers on the pin board!

User843022 · 14/08/2017 21:07

'There is such a place, it's called a whacky warehouse, lots of pubs have those attached these days. It only works if you're with friends so you can take turns to go for a drink.'

Yes holding pens soft play attached to family pubs like wacky's and Brewster's are my experience too. Do people really go to soft plays and not have a beer garden to sit in while their dc play unattended? Grin

Most of our local soft plays sell alcohol. They're not in pubs either but dedicated soft play centres. I always thought it was normal

BackforGood · 19/08/2017 22:10

I thought the vast majority of soft plays were attached to pubs. You must live somewhere different from me.

Also, there are a couple of adult soft play places I can think of in the area - never been myself, but I've always assumed there is a bar, as it is set up for adults.

redrobinblue · 19/08/2017 22:17

@SmitheringSmithison I'm on border of north/West Yorkshire, and we can drink here too in most of them! #yorkshire
