To think if you press the button on the crossing it should be fucking illegal to cross before you get the green man?

If you are stopping the traffic, do not cross when there is a gap in the traffic, you pressed the fucking button so you wait for the green man!

All the stopping and starting adds to the pollution and it really fucks me off when I stop and they have already crossed and are on their merry way!

It can't be just me can it that thinks people who do this are inconsiderate, selfish and rude with no thought for the environment?

So I have to stop for a green man. Fine. No problem. The emissions are unavoidable. But if I stop for Mr Nobody, I have increased the emissions unecessarily

It's the same people crossing. You have stopped the same number of times. Are you on glue?

Kleinzeit · 14/08/2017 19:08

You might even be doing a favour to the pedestrian coming along behind. You get to cross early and they get to cross sooner because you've already pressed the button for them.

Are you sure you've really thought this through nicenewone1? Grin

nicenewone1 · 14/08/2017 19:14

How is it the same people crossing? If you don't want to use the green man, then don't press the button. Then I don't stop, I keep going.

Why is it so hard to grasp?!

Jaywalking is not illegal in the UK
if you do not like Jaywalkers, move to Germany.

There is a traffic lights near me that used to change relatively soon after pressing it. It now takes about 5-10 mins to change. Most people don't use it now and cross the busy road when there is a gap in traffic.

JacquesHammer · 14/08/2017 19:25

I press the green button. I wait for green man. Nice stops. I cross the road.

People crossing road = me
People stopping = nice

I press the green button, then notice a gap. I cross. Nice stops at red light.

People crossing = me
People stopping = nice

Lauralou69 · 14/08/2017 19:26

Hee hee I am not winding anyone up...I actually do this and OP you do realise the pollution you speak of is because you own and drive a car, not because people press the button to legitimately cross the road! If you're that concerned about pollution choose to not be a part of it! I have made a conscious decision to not have a car, I manage just fine on public transport and walking........much healthier!

Therealslimshady1 · 14/08/2017 19:26

For OP:

Scenario 1:
Pedestrian presses button
Pedestrian sees gap and crosses road
traffic light shows green man
Cars stop for 30 seconds
Nobody crosses road, cars rev engines, and are off
Total time,: 3 minutes

Scenario 2

Pedestrian presses button
Pedestrian sees no gap
traffic light shows green man
Cars stop for 30 seconds
Pedestrian crosses
Cars rev engines,and are off
Total time: 3 minutes

In both cases, the wait time for cars is the same

In both cases, the pollution is the same

DianaT1969 · 14/08/2017 19:26

Nice what a shame these bloody pedestrians, who walk everywhere and don't use gas guzzlers, are attempting to cross the road at all. They shouldn't be allowed out of their houses unless they have a car! Chop their fingers off for pressing the button. How dare they stand there less time than they have to.

Therealslimshady1 · 14/08/2017 19:28

Scenario 3: slimshady is a fool to believe the OP did not get this.

Good to be taken in sometimesGrin it was fun

Maybe I am getting the point of trolling!

TheSultanofPingu · 14/08/2017 19:28

It's terrible!
All those pedestrians causing pollution by pressing the button and not waiting for the green man.

Kleinzeit · 14/08/2017 19:31

DH (of course) pointed out that the technical solution is a "cancel" button for use if you cross before the green man. And DS (of course) pointed out the potential for pedestrians to troll each other by pressing the "cancel" button when someone else is waiting to cross.

(This passes for fun in my family)

Lauralou69 · 14/08/2017 19:32

Though it really does amuse me that in Germany NOBODY crosses the road unless the green man is flashing......still, just don't mention the war.........

nicenewone1 · 14/08/2017 19:32

Jaywalking is not illegal in the UK
if you do not like Jaywalkers, move to Germany

How childish! But at least you admit it is Jaywalking, and it is illegal in some other countries

If that is the case, it's hardly a new idea, and it's clearly a dumb ass thing to do isn't it Grin

OP posts:
KidLorneRoll · 14/08/2017 19:34

If you are that concerned about the environment, don't fucking drive in the first place.

Problem solved.

Pestilentialone · 14/08/2017 19:34

In this country we don't call it jaywalking, we call it using the green cross code.

JacquesHammer · 14/08/2017 19:34

and it is illegal in some other countries

Please don't do something here because it's illegal elsewhere. Good argument

Ta1kinPeece · 14/08/2017 19:35

Not childish, factual.
In some countries it is illegal
in some countries it is frowned upon
in some countries it is the norm
in other countries its essential because the drivers ignore any signals anyway

Explain what ?

Lauralou69 · 14/08/2017 19:38

Nicenewone1...it is YOUR mentality giving us a good laugh!

SaucyJack · 14/08/2017 19:39

I don't know what there is for me not to get;

I want to cross the road as quickly as possible, and I don't give a shit if I inconvenience any car drivers in the process.

What am I missing?

JacquesHammer · 14/08/2017 19:39

for God's sake ask your husbands about this, they are more likely to get it. Then get them to explain it to you

Aw bless.....is driving a boy thing?
