Totally irrational dislike for actors/actresses??

What is it about certain actors/actresses that just make you dislike them for no reason at all?
I was just looking at the web and Melissa George (Home and Away, and others) and i just really don't like her. I have no idea why though? I don't dislike other female actresses?

do you dislike anyone famous for no reason?

Most of the ones mentioned tbh but I draw the line at Jack Nicholson!! I could watch him in anything Wink

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 13/08/2017 20:14

Poor Keira Knightly and Lorraine Kelly - I bet they're both on MN too

YoungChowFriedRice · 13/08/2017 20:15

Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie, her voice gets on my tits!

FelixtheMouse · 13/08/2017 20:15

Stephen Segal. Won't watch anything with him in it.

AnnMeredithPerkins · 13/08/2017 20:16

@Huffletuff

I find it hard to see how someone is being smug when most of their posts at the moment are about raising money for charity. They really won't care what random people on Mumsnet think smile

eh?

Oh yes Jamie (pretentious little shit) and Jools 'I don't need makeup' Oliver... newsflash love... You do Grin

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 13/08/2017 20:18

I sound like Lorraine Kelly. I know its irritating Grin

alldaysleeper · 13/08/2017 20:19

Billy Connolly
Tess & Vern (pass the sick bucket)
Bill Murray
All the old English luvvies who make any old tat for the money these days - too many to name

Brittbugs80 · 13/08/2017 20:20

And Amy Schumer.

If you don't find her funny or if anyone criticises anything she does on her Instagram (not trolling but as in someone commented that they were a huge fan but the top didn't flatter her) then she either comments with "nice fat shaming" or "scared of female success" she absolutely cannot accept that some people think she isn't that funny. She trots out those two lines to every negative comment.

iamyourequal · 13/08/2017 20:20

Have Jamie Oliver and Lorraine Kelly taken up acting now? Or is the thread just growing arms and legs!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 13/08/2017 20:22

I watched Train Wreak recently it was a big let down.

Rainbunny · 13/08/2017 20:23

Ooh just remembered that Jennifer Lawrence really get's on my nerves - another person who just tries too hard to do the cool girl thing.

millifiori · 13/08/2017 20:24

Toni Collette (Muriel's Wedding, About A Boy) completely creeps me out. Even though I can tell she's a good actress, she just winds me up, which is weird, because most of the ones who wind me up either can't act (KeiraKnightley) or look odiously self-important (Tilda Swinton.)

I can't work out why I can't stand her.

But I love Daniel Radcliffe.

MizK · 13/08/2017 20:25

Billie Piper is the WORST.

That fake posh voice....euuuugggghhhhh!

twattymctwatterson · 13/08/2017 20:26

Definitely Tom Cruise although I have many actual reasons. He's a lunatic who's last marriage was arranged by the Church of Scientology, apparently extremely controlling and doesn't even have contact with his small daughter because she's no longer part of his crazy, alien worshiping cult

GerdaLovesLili · 13/08/2017 20:27

Tom Cruise and Leonardo di Caprio. Yuk

martiniwini · 13/08/2017 20:30

I don't understand tom cruise at all, he's little with a big nose.

martiniwini · 13/08/2017 20:30

Leo is hot.

Frecklemcspeckles · 13/08/2017 20:31

@MixK you beat me to it! I CANNOT HAVE Bylie Piper because she doesn't move her top lip when she talks!!!!!

When she was in Dr Who I spent most of every episode screaming move you bloody top lip ahhhhh! It drove me insane. Poor dh had to listen to it every week!! God I was glad when she left.

CaveMum · 13/08/2017 20:31

Russell Crow - cannot abide the bully

DH can't stand Ewan MacGregor, particularly his "swanning about on his motorbike documentaries"

Hygge · 13/08/2017 20:32

Jennifer Saunders. I have never and will never like her.

Always liked Dawn French though.

I know other people have mentioned Tom and Gio-whatsit Fletcher, so I'll add my voice to the "don't like them's".

When DS was younger and we were choosing a book, he absolutely hated those poo books and so did I.

I know there's a trend to write about poos, bums, pants, and toilets, and a trend for celebrities to write children's books. And we even own the one about the Mole Who Knew It Was None Of His Business, so it's not that we object to poo books as such. But the one we read was grim. Basically Dinosaurs crapped out the planet in a kind of prehistoric shit-fest. It's unnecessary. We put the book back on the shelf and chose something less focused on what comes out of a dinosaurs arse.

And you don't have to live every moment on YouTube either.

But all that aside, this is a thread about irrational dislikes and I just don't like them.

olderandnowiser · 13/08/2017 20:34

Ralph Fiennes. He is so self-consciously acting and watching himself as he does his acting and being actually very pleased with himself, too.
He ruined 'The English Patient' for me, and I wasn't too keen on Kristin Scott Thomas in it either, but I will let her off because she always wears nice clothes in RL.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 13/08/2017 20:34

Sally Dexter, currently in Emmerdale. She has that smug, 'worship me' attitude.

Unfortunately she has it in real life too as I had the misfortune to see her in B&Q not long ago and she stopped directly in front of me and waited for me to move, with that smug 'I am special' smirk.

She was with a rowdy child who was playing football with a cuddly toy in one of the aisles, toy was not his, and ignoring the fact he was getting in the way of the genuine shoppers.

So what started off as mild dislike of the false lips and condescending attitude on TV became a very strong dislike and disdain. She needs to realise she is not better than everyone else.

BeyondThePage · 13/08/2017 20:36

alldaysleeper - I agree with Bill Murray.

Something about him just gives me the creeps. Looks like he enjoys the power celebrity gives him.

Probably a really nice man for all I know.

LouBlue1507 · 13/08/2017 20:37

I used to dislike James McAvoy in everything until I watched 'split'... Brilliant acting, huge respect!
