To ask if anyone can help us find our dog?

Our dog (Wilbur, 11 month old English Pointer) has been missing in the New Forest area for coming up to 4 hours. We have scoured the area, called the dog warden (only works Mon-Fri) and local vets again most are closed. Also tried local shelters but these too are closed as it's the weekend. Have called micro chip company but they are also bloody closed.

We are beside ourselves with panic - this is not normal behaviour for our dog and we drove about 20 mins from home so there is little to no chance of him finding his way back. He was wearing his house collar and we completely forgot to put on his walking one which has his tag so no phone number or address on him - we are obviously kicking ourselves.

Just so worried that he has been taken, is injured and facing spending the night in the cold alone, he's a really clingy loving dog. My other half is still out looking for him and I'm trying to think of any way that we can get this out onto social media in case someone has picked him up.

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Just to say I really hope he comes back soon.

Ameliablue · 12/08/2017 20:30

As well as sites specific to dog searches, look for local community pages to post on.

mydogisthebest · 12/08/2017 20:30

Post on facebook with a photo and ask everyone to share it no matter where they live.

I have shared quite a few dog lost posts on facebook and, thankfully, I think they have all been found.

Also usually people in the area where the dog has gone missing will go out and look for them. Me and DH have been out before when a dog is missing close to us.

Good luck

Might help to post a pic of him on here/local mumsnet so people know what he looks like. Hope you find him

dogglegoggles · 12/08/2017 20:47

In case you can't access PMs they say Totton Dog Owners group are aware and helping.

They say if need be you can get hold of Forest vets Fordingbridge 01425 652221 or Pilgrims 01425 657700.

iMatter · 12/08/2017 20:52

Lisagary26 · 12/08/2017 21:26

Sounds like we have a happy ending 😀

BifsWif · 12/08/2017 22:02

So pleased to read the updates!

I remember being on holiday and my Labrador, who was at my dads, going missing during a walk. We actually drove home after he had been missing for a number of hours and went to search for him. The silly sod waltzed back up to my dads house at 1am with his tail wagging, looking as happy as Larry and like nothing had happened.

I hope you have your boy back with you soon.

ReginaGeorgeinSheepsClothing · 12/08/2017 22:06

Oh, I feel for you. What a horrible thing to happen.
I lost our dog on Monday - just like you, I had forgotten to put his collar with his tag on - but luckily it was in our local park. FB was my saviour. Somebody found him and posted on the local dog FB page.
I hope you find your dog soon. Big hug.
