Neighbour has moved out and dumped stuff in our garden!

Our neighbours were privately renting. Never had a problem with them, always said hello, helped them out a couple of times when they got locked out.

One of them was a mechanic (not sure if that was his actual job or what he did on the side) so he looked at our cars a couple of times for us.

DH heard from our neighbour the other side of us (he knows all the neighbourhood gossipGrin) that they were moving out soon.

Loads of moving trucks came and went, they had the council rubbish truck come and dispose loads of big rubbish.

As it's the summer holidays I'm off out with kids a lot and DH has been away for the past couple of weeks with his erm, hobby Wink

I noticed a couple of days ago that some stuff had been put on our drive/garden/verge of weeds. Thought maybe they'd moved it to clean up their drive but they've gone and it's still there. And they've also added two buckets of black liquid (car oil?) round the other side! So we've got a massive heavy metal box full of random car stuff, a gas bbq, and a gas bottle. And a random walking boot! And 2 buckets of yuk.

Our other neighbour also has a big metal box that was from their back garden in his drive too! I need to find out if he was asked but he works shifts so I'm not sure whether to go now.

DH is back from his top secret hobby later today so we will talk about what to do because I'm not paying for it to be moved!

I'm currently keeping an eye out for the landlord or other neighbour.

Can't believe they've just dumped them and left! Shock

ShockI'd drag it back on to their (former) land. My anger would give me the strength of a cart horse.

Nearly10to9 · 12/08/2017 11:45

Drag it back!!
Landlord can deal with

ClaudiaWankleman · 12/08/2017 11:46

Can you move it yourself? I would just stick it straight back on their drive or garden, no discussion.

Maelstrop · 12/08/2017 11:46

Drag back to their drive, contact ll if you know them. Jesus, that would make me cross!

VladmirsPoutine · 12/08/2017 11:46

That's fucking ridiculous. Be sure to take photos of everything in preparation for strongly worded e-mails to the council.

HipsterHunter · 12/08/2017 11:47

Can you just drag it onto their drive?

AprilShowers16 · 12/08/2017 11:47

Put it back on their land. The landlord will probably take the cost of moving it out of their deposit

LesbianBadger · 12/08/2017 11:48

I would put it back on their land as well and landlord can use their deposit to pay for its removal.

MyWhatICallNameChange · 12/08/2017 11:50

The metal box is so heavy, i certainly can't move it myself. I don't want to move the buckets as they are nearly full to the top.

I will certainly be seeing if I can move them with DH's help when he gets back this afternoon.

If not we'll have to see if we can get hold of the landlord.

scootinFun · 12/08/2017 11:51

Put it back on their drive then contact rental agency saying you've notice some things have been left behind

ClaudiaWankleman · 12/08/2017 11:55

Could you enlist your other neighbour to help you drag it?

Happytobefree17 · 12/08/2017 11:56

Bloody cheeky! Definitely move it back to their land

milliemolliemou · 12/08/2017 11:57

And you know for sure it's them and not someone else?

youaredeluded · 12/08/2017 11:57

Report to the council. Report to the LL and home owner. My neighbours did a similar thing and took loads of angry emails and phone calls over a 2 week period to finally get it all gone.

youaredeluded · 12/08/2017 11:58

Oh yes and move it if you can. Some people are so fucking cheeky.

OnlyRose · 12/08/2017 11:59

YANBU, that's really cheeky. Now, about your DH's hobby... Wink

specialsubject · 12/08/2017 12:03

drag it back if you can, and contact landlord - rightmove may tell you who the agency is if there was one, they can contact him/her.

Be aware that this makes the landlord an involuntary bailee, and even if it is obvious crap they can't dispose of it without jumping through various hoops. Otherwise they risk a knowing tenant coming back and sueing them. So if nothing happens for a while after you contact the landlord, it may not be his/her fault.

QueenLaBeefah · 12/08/2017 12:05

Move it back onto their land (cheeky fuckers).

AdoraBell · 12/08/2017 12:09

Maybe DH and other nieghbour could help moving it back to LL property? Between the 3 of you it should be possible, no?

YANBU, it's a total piss take.

ShitOrBust · 12/08/2017 12:09

Move it all back, lock stock and barrel, onto their property. Cheeky cunts.

SoupDragon · 12/08/2017 12:14

Presumably it is now up for rent - can you check local estate agents and find the landlord that way?

quizqueen · 12/08/2017 12:18

Put an old cloth or cardboard under the buckets as you move them so the liquid doesn't splash on your drive or ladle some out before moving them then refill when back on their property side. Let the landlord deal with the problem. He may have to supply references for his previous tenants so he can include details about rubbish they have left behind and withhold some of their deposit for cleaning and removals.

innagazing · 12/08/2017 12:40

Firstly google the address and 'for rent' and it'll probably show you old adverts or even a new current one.
Contact the agent/landlord as soon as possible and they can get it cleared and with hold the costs when returning the renters deposit.
Also sick a note through the front oor of the house addressed to 'The landlord or managing agent'.

GlitteryFluff · 12/08/2017 12:55

Yes get DH to drag it all back to their property. Landlord can sort it and invoice the tenants if they see fit.

HipsterHunter · 12/08/2017 13:00

I;d sacrifice one of my buckets and decant some of the liquid into that with a ladle or jug.
Then move the buckets.

Between you and your DH you should be able ot move the box - even if oyu have to move some of the stuff out and move it over bit by bit.
