Virtual Coach Trip: All Aboard!

***
Welcome!

  • Do you fancy a (virtual) fun day out?
  • All ages
  • Your interactive input needed: ideas/ pics/ suggestions of what we could add or improve upon...

So far, we have:

- Various vehicles (see pics in 2nd post below) to suit personal tastes
(including sedate and quiet/ singalong/ loud and raucous party bus (no discrimination from us, though: decibel-lovers [incl. metal heads/ extreme punk/ electronicore etc]. get your own 100% soundproof section...we want you too)/ family-friendly/ dog-and-pet friendly/ dog-and-pet free/ mixture of a few for the brave ).

- Return day-trip to seaside? And/ or other places voted on by group?
(Mablethorpe very popular!
Somewhere on a county border for Devon vs Cornwall scones battle was also in the running).

  • Coach Singalong Playlist: ongoing. Your suitable(!) nominations welcome - any genre, any era, must have melody for group singing.
  • On-board Music and Entertainments Directors
(includes dramatic readings/ poetry for the quieter...drinking games for the rowdy).

Will C&P list so far, from other thread, when get time.

Add-ons definitely include:

  1. STRICTLY ADULTS ONLY GLAMPING (yurts/ luxury bedding/ wood-fired hot tubs/ campfire entertainment (plus party field well away from light sleepers) / on-site masseur/ chef...and possible excursions to assist hassled fellow MNers attempting to organise CFHens). Wink
  1. ADJOINING FAMILY-FRIENDLY GLAMPING (as above, minus hen party element. Added child-appropriate activities/ all baby and toddler equipment provided/ bedtime story sessions etc...)
  1. REGULAR NOFRILLS CAMPING_,
For those who prefer a more basic tent...even erect your own, if that's what floats your boat. (Decent waterproofing and top-notch 'facilities' guaranteed). Those accommodating pets to be safely distanced away from non-animal types.

- Coach Trip (and camping/ Glamping) ticket price: FREE!
(That's right: it costs you nothing. Nada. Zero. And entitles you to complimentary, delicious refreshments provided by talented MNers (and a bottle of Guinness, to boot).
Added regional food/ drink with pictures a bonus.
A benign eye will be turned to sneaky, stashed booze for the bad influences at the back...as long as not disruptive to other passengers.
(Party bus: anything within reason goes; like-minded souls safely contained together, and rules made accordingly BY YOU!).

  • Inclusive policy.
  • All vehicles modified to be wheelchair accessible, and are induction-looped. We will do our best to adapt to unmet needs.
  • All vehicles have on-board loo/ make frequent 'comfort stops'.
  • Children's fun bus(es) (see pic) staffed by kindly, highly qualified Nannies, familiar with additional needs and disabilities.
On-board sensory room. Thus all parents can HAVE A BREAK, TOO. Special pass entitles them to hop between whichever vehicles they may choose, child-free...imagine.

A few reminders
This Coach Trip is an off-shoot from:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2990400-New-neighbour-using-my-private-garden?pg=1
(and 9, yes, count them, 9, subsequent threads: summary/ shortcuts:
trello.com/b/Mh00lwZH/the-cfns-tale-of-the-listed-building

but intended to work mainly as a standalone idea, equally accessible to newcomers completely unfamiliar.
PLEASE NOTE, HOWEVER, WHILST CONTINUING THE FUN, SUPPORTIVE, IMAGINATIVE, WARM ATMOSPHERE, THIS NEW "COACH TRIP" THREAD IS NOT A TAAT. STRICTLY NOT THE APPROPRIATE PLACE FOR DISCUSSION OF/ SPECULATION ABOUT PEOPLE OR CIRCUMSTANCES RELEVANT TO THOSE 10 THREADS...MNHQ WILL DELETE SUCH POSTS.

The Coach Management (one seriously terrifying, humourless jobsworth and her clipboard) reserves the right to eject from the vehicle(s) (or at least strap to the roof rack/ lock in the luggage compartment) any PITAs intent on ruining it for the rest of us. It's lighthearted FUN, people! Just one tiny corner of MN...you're free to explore the rest of it and leave us to our delusions. Smile

What about the obvious one "Magical Mystery Tour" Wink
it's probably already been mentioned but I haven't gone back over the thread(s) to check Grin

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 15/08/2017 15:14

prettybird,

Can't believe we forgot that classic!! "Day Tripper" also apt.

Thanks for reminding us.

(Passengers best keep any actual roll-ups and/or hallucinogens off all vehicles, though Wink).

"Magical, Mystery Tour", The Beatles"

"Day Tripper", The Beatles"

There's also Cliff Richard's "Summer Holiday" Smile

.....particularly suitable for a bus trip! Grin

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 15/08/2017 15:51

We have some English seaside options for our Inaugural Trip destination (more welcome), but could Welsh and Scottish MNers recommend specific (coastal) areas?

Needn't be on your doorstep, if you'd rather keep your ID anonymous...just places you're familiar with.

Ideally, secluded and uncrowded beach (because, naturally, the weather will be sunny), but with a local town/ or attractions within (30 minutes max) coach drop-off distance, so we can combine a bit of both.

Nature a bonus (e.g. seal-spotting/ cliff path ramble) for those who enjoy such.

Real shame to exclude beautiful Ireland just because of inconvenient 3hr ferry...let's use the fantasy element instead: wherever we finally choose is exactly 2 hrs away from departure point. Smile
So Irish coastal spots, too, please.

  • We'll vote tomorrow, so GET NOMINATIONS IN BEFORE MIDDAY!
  • Then we can choose date and finally get going...

I can supply homemade tablet Ice Cream if you could pick me up from Ayr.

Gramgram · 16/08/2017 09:00

As part of the visit to Wales, can we visit Carreg Cennen Castle, for some lovely views and the natural cave for the adventurous. Then perhaps the steam railway from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge for some waterfalls. At Devils Bridge those that want to have a go at being on the footplate of a steam engine can give it a go.

To finish off maybe visit the Elan Valley and Rhayader. We could visit the Indian restaurant or pick up some Dragon sausages from the butcher for the campfire that night.

[nominated by Fuzzycustard, (see her own pic example)...does somewhere like Bude area count, or do you mean further off the beaten track? Please give rough idea and I'll link a short video if you like].
  • MABLETHORPE, Lincolnshire coast.
[honorary mention for all followers from previous thread. "We'll always have Mablethorpe"].
  • No Ireland nominations were received...that's a great pity. Sad

NB

If no outright winner, we will combine best elements from each suggestion, to build our own fictional, 'perfect' destination. Smile

  • In the interests of geographical fairness, wherever we choose (RL or imaginary) the coach journey will take exactly 2 hrs IN REAL TIME from all departure points. Date to be decided on Saturday.
  • Our international friends are also more than welcome to magic themselves over here and join in the fun. Smile

Food note: homemade tablet ice cream sounds amazing; luckily, we have adequate freezer space, so as much as you can make will do just fine.

Dragon sausages? I won't make the obvious wisecrack. Wink

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 18/08/2017 19:14

Righto...will take it that you're all preferring to combine a few elements from different places?!

We'll figure out the DEPARTURE DATE and details tomorrow.

Sorry for delay, everyone.

Down with horrendous bug. Will resume as soon as recovered.

How are you feeling Marilyn. Much better I hope.

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 04/09/2017 05:05

Hello all, first time back on MN in 2 wks...feeling bit more human, but coach trips (even virtual ones!) are beyond my energies for now.

If anyone else wants to take over the helm (or even run the inaugural day trip?), please feel free to do so, and I'll pitch in as and when able.

(Otherwise it may end up being a tour to see the Christmas lights at this rate... Actually, thinking about it, shall we log that as another possibility for December?).

Lucky we can still magic up our weather to be summery and perfect, because I suspect the RL sunshine is over.
