My dd like most kids gets nits. Her best mate from school also gets them.
I am continuosly treating dds hair... lotion, nitty grotty. Weekly/ fortnightly.
So is she.

My dd has long, thick haor and hates anyone touching it. Hers has short fine hair.

As far as im concerned all the kids give each other nits and we parents do our best to tame them.

I dont blame any particular child/ parent.

A whike back this mum posted on fb

" please can all parents from dds achool treat their childs nits. Im fed zo of you all giving my chikd nots. "

I knew she meant my chikd as dd still had nits after a few treatments.

How do i know her chikd wasnt giving my dd nits.
I wrote her a message and she told ne to gwt a nitty gritty. I had one!

Aibu to think this was very passive aggressive? Why didnt she speak to me directly? Also... why blame one chikd AND pist on facebook?

People were writinf bame and shame on her wall! Ive since concluded she's a prize dick! And dd has been nut free since moving from a different class to that friend!

"You all" isn't just singling out one child though?

sororitynoise · 11/08/2017 18:22

She's right.

HeadfirstForHalos · 11/08/2017 18:25

She's right. If your dd still has nits after several treatments then something isn't working.

TheNaze73 · 11/08/2017 18:25

Vote with your block button. She's an arse

SecretFreebirther · 11/08/2017 18:25

Our school is very clear that children are not to come in until they are nit free

Especially if you've got a nitty gritty, those things are the holy grail of lice removal.

dollydaydream114 · 11/08/2017 18:26

Oh for god's sake, who cares? Just ignore it or unfriend her if you're that bothered. It's only a whinge about nits, there's no need for all this drama.

HotelEuphoria · 11/08/2017 18:27

It's isn't that hard to keep nits at bay. Lotion, combing twice a day until all the eggs have gone then combing tea tree conditioner through the hair and plaiting it every day for school to prevent reinfection.

Syc4moreTrees · 11/08/2017 18:27

I think you possibly drew attention to yourself by contacting her about it.

2014newme · 11/08/2017 18:28

You aren't getting rid of the nits effectively.
Most kids don't have nits, one of my kids had them once this whole school year, the other not at all.
You seem to accept it's the norm to have nits, it isn't!
Have you followed the NHS guidance to the letter?
Have you tried the nitty gritty and conditioner on a daily basis as well as hedrin?
It is maddening when some people aren't treating effectively and it keeps going round. If you're doing good it weekly you Rent doing it enough.
Maybe she's as bad I don't know but you aren't dealing with it properly

Brittbugs80 · 11/08/2017 18:28

She could be nit free because she isn't able to catch them back off the girl she gave them too.

Are you doing it right and keeping her off school until the nits have gone?

It sounds like she has had them for while, the poor kid.

Booboobooboo84 · 11/08/2017 18:29

I think it's was a general message that may or may not be aimed at your child. As long as you were treating your child adequately then you have nothing to be paranoid about

FreakinScaryCaaw · 11/08/2017 18:29

Get your dd's hair cut for starters.

helpme85 · 11/08/2017 18:31

Your child shouldn't keep having nits. You're not getting rid of them effectively.

Use hedrin. Then use hedrin stubborn egg removal and then sit with a lamp and pull out any stubborn eggs then repeat - 7 days later!

HeadfirstForHalos · 11/08/2017 18:31

Nitty grittys are great. I just used one of these and cheap conditioner, combing thoroughly (until the comb was coming out clear each time) every 2nd day, they were always gone within a week.

Maybe try Google or youtube for techniques?

malificent7 · 11/08/2017 18:34

If you saw dds hair you wouldnt cut it. It's magnificent.. apart from the nits!

She is right to be pissed off. I agree totally. To post on facebook. Nah.... petty and passive aggressive.

Your DD's hair might be 'magnificent' 🙄 but it's full of lice.

Notreallyarsed · 11/08/2017 18:41

But it's got the reaction she was looking for so.....

Ginmakesitallok · 11/08/2017 18:44

Eww how can any hair with nits be "magnificent"? Get her hair cut and then get rid of the nits.

Gwilt160981 · 11/08/2017 18:46

Coconut oil prevents them as well as nit repellent. Unfortunately nits are a pain in the arse.

PurpleMinionMummy · 11/08/2017 18:47

Agree that something is wrong somewhere if you need to continuously treat your dd.

People/schools actually expect kids off until they are nit free? Shock. Even with a good treatment and comb you can't guarantee they're all gone after one treatment. It's why you have to retreat 7 days later and/or keep nitcombing. I don't believe any school expects kids to stay off all that time.

2014newme · 11/08/2017 18:47

Lice infested hair is not magnificent its awful.

Wolfiefan · 11/08/2017 18:47

My DD kept getting nits. I combed every three days. Treated overnight. Again in a week. All clear.
Home from school and there are more!
I know exactly who in the class wasn't being treated. Went to an assembly and kid sat there scratching head the whole time. Hair never looks brushed. Much less nit treated. It's bloody annoying when you do clear the nits and they keep getting them again and again.
