Just want to know I'm not alone in hating ridiculous excuses!! Was messaging a guy who then blanked me completely....for two months!!! Then messages me yesterday with a 'sorry been busy' - well I saw red! Maybe OTT but what excuses really make the red mist descend for you??

Yes parentincharge but some different and physically challenging behaviour is due to the severe difficulties that children and adults with autism can face and that isn't down to parenting or the person just being violent either. Those doing so can also be lovely people too.

A particular celebrity who was supposed to be hosting a charity event and told us (the charity) the day before that she unfortunately couldn't come because her grandmother was really ill.

Fair enough...until the next day when her social media feed was full of her having a lovely time at a party...not ours!

Years ago my (then) boyfriend broke up with me because I cut my hair. His excuse was ''woman has to have long hair, and yours is short now'' Hmm

Had a date with a bloke who then ghosted me - no probs, it was only one date. Then about 4 months later he texted me to ask what I was doing. 'Why are you texting me now??' He replied that he had been away. 'Aah, away to the land where they chop off your fingers? Poor you!'

Strangely, he didn't reply.

BeyondThePage would you put your phone down for two months though?!

Click I told him to bugger off! He's still trying though because he's 'a doctor and worth it' Hmm

I use that Phoebe quote all the time! Jokingly, though.

More often than not I'm pretty honest. "It sounds like fun, but I know I'm not going to have the spoons for that. Thank you though!"

BeyondThePage · 13/08/2017 10:38

Hi OP - no I wouldn't put my phone down for 2 months, but unless texted with something that requires a reply I might not respond.

I'm not into all this twee "kk", "see you later" followed by "xx" stuff.

*Oh, we'll have to leave early as we can't get a babysitter"

YOUVE HAD THREE FUCKING MONTHS, PEOPLE!*

Doesn't matter how much notice I get, if my one friend who babysits for me is busy, I won't have a babysitter.

missiondecision · 13/08/2017 10:53

Invited a friend for lunch a week in advance and she responded with
"I can't, I'm sorting out my cupboards!".

LadyOfTheCanyon · 13/08/2017 12:44

Choons

But they weren't let down by babysitters, they hadn't even bothered to try and sort any out, despite having three months notice.
