Empty syringe..

Posted elsewhere but need answers! Namechanged, my partner found an empty (no needle) syringe in ds (12)s pocket earlier. I have no idea where it has come from or why he might have it. It's 30ml.
I won't go into why I may have cause for concern but should I be concerned? Is it some kind of drug paraphernalia I've never heard of? I'm worried.
He's slept out tonight but came back and had a shower which is when we found it. I txt him a picture of it he replied "what" I asked what it was and no reply.

Are you his mother for real?

You can be fairly certain that has not been used for drugs. I think he has it because he thinks it looks cool and/or for squirting his friends with. However this doesn't mean you don't need to be having a serious chat with him and somehow getting his behaviour under control. The fact that your first thought was drugs means you need to get a hold of this now before it really is drugs.

reallyn · 10/08/2017 23:21

Yes I agree.

My first thought was science lab too.

Papafran · 10/08/2017 23:22

That would not be used to shoot up any kind of intravenous drug (apart from maybe for a horse). I would not worry about that but obviously speak to him and it sounds like there's other stuff going on anyway.

JWrecks · 10/08/2017 23:22

Is it clean? Any residue inside that you can see?

My gut tells me it's fairly innocent. I mean... I suppose he could be taking some kind of syrup with it, or something like that? But really, without knowing him or his friends, my instincts tell me it's a water squirter.

sherrifffatman · 10/08/2017 23:23

I've got this exact same syringe, it was given to me by the chemist to give DD medicine of some sort by mouth.

babybubblescomingsoon · 10/08/2017 23:23

Just saw your picture op. I'm sure it's a science lab job.

reallyn · 10/08/2017 23:23

It does look like it maybe had water in it. I shouldn't be stressing like this should I? I should be able to trust him but I can't.

My ex used these for washing his piercings

Flyinggeese · 10/08/2017 23:25

OP you have to speak to him properly! Texting him a pic will not open up a discussion I'm sure. And if he is up to something then you just give him time to think of a story.

Is he with you at home now?

Crispbutty · 10/08/2017 23:27

That's a standard vets medicine syringe. I used to have to use it when my dog had medication.

fizzandchips · 10/08/2017 23:27

We have these in our house. Last summer Yo Sushi were doing a special desert and each portion came with a syringe full of toffee or chocolate sauce. My children loved the idea and brought them home.

reallyn · 10/08/2017 23:27

No he's sleeping out..he says he hasn't got a clue what it is.

zsazsa468 · 10/08/2017 23:28

Look like one commonly used in hospitals for flushing IV lines, giving IV antibiotics or flushing, giving meds vis a nasal gastric tube.

This type wouldn't be used for injecting.

Toddle · 10/08/2017 23:28

I have extremely limited knowledge of the technical terms but I know someone who gets these with some 'plant food' type thing that they feed marijuana plants with. So if the above is true and he has access to whoever is growing it that could be where it came from.

PacificDogwod · 10/08/2017 23:30

Is he a happy boy? Enjoying his life? Confident and has some interests??

If not, could one of those things open up discussion?
"Son, you seem unhappy, what's going on, can I help?"
"Son, how are you doing? Do you fancy a KFC (insert treat of his choice)?"
"Son, what do you need for the new school year? Fancy a shopping trip out?"

You are probably best served having a face to face conversation with him. Then you'll know if he's being honest - you know him best!

I wouldn't of thought it's used for injecting - it's HUGE! Probably just picked it up from somewhere and been squirting it?

NationalExpress · 10/08/2017 23:34

We get that size from the vet to swoosh water in to chase a tablet down.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 10/08/2017 23:36

I may be way off the mark but some of you have been mentioning squirting his mates - it wouldn't be for squirting acid would it?? I know it seems to be the weapon of choice at the moment

Miserylovescompany2 · 10/08/2017 23:36

Actually I'm sure they use those for flushing IV drips? Has he been near a hospital or visiting someone?

reallyn · 10/08/2017 23:36

He is sleeping out but I know the mum, and I asked him face to face about the weed and he said his friend did with his sister.

OP posts:
LovingLola · 10/08/2017 23:37

He's friends mum told me he thinks they've been smoking weed..son told me he hasn't his friend had with his sister.

So who do you believe? Your 12 year old child or his friend's mother?
