Housewarming

Friend A is moving into her first house with her DP (rented). She wants to throw a housewarming party when moved in. She doesn't expect any gifts just wants to celebrate her moving in with DP.

Friend B says housewarmings for rented houses don't count, only bought houses.

Friend C thinks housewarmings for rented houses are nice in cases like her first moving in with DP and would probably buy a small gift anyway.

Who is BU?

Friend B says housewarmings for rented houses don't count, only bought houses.

Why on earth would a party your having for moving into your new home not "count" just because house isnt bought? Confused

StillSmallVoice · 10/08/2017 11:08

Friend B. I think friend C has it about right.

SuitedAndBootedd · 10/08/2017 11:09

Oh thank god you all think so, I'm friend A😂 I didn't start to think that housewarmings would only be for bought houses until my friend said so. I don't even want gifts.

Haha it always makes me laugh when people think their above it all because they have taken out a massive loan. That's essentially what a mortgage is...

StoatofDisarray · 10/08/2017 11:13

You and Friend C are right. Tell Friend B to jog on.

pictish · 10/08/2017 11:15

Friend B is wrong.

dustarr73 · 10/08/2017 11:16

Well don't invite friend b.Aftell it doesn't count.

Flybye · 10/08/2017 11:16

Tell friend B that she can't come now and to never contact you again. You'll be in touch if you end up buying a house and you'll expect a massive amazing house warming gift.

chickenowner · 10/08/2017 11:16

I think B is wrong, and sounds a bit strange to me!

SuitedAndBootedd · 10/08/2017 11:17

@Flybye love it Grin

No of course not! It's totally normal to have one. x

heliumrising · 10/08/2017 11:20

Friend A wants to have a party. The party coincides with moving house. It's a housewarming for them in that sense.

Friend B is being a little blinkered, perhaps, and if invited should not attend on principle. Smile

Lana1234 · 10/08/2017 11:21

Friend B is BU. Have your house warming and have fun Smile

ThePants999 · 10/08/2017 11:23

Hmm at the idea that you're only allowed a party unless it meets strict criteria for being justified!! Throw a party for whatever you damn well want :-)

Gottagetmoving · 10/08/2017 11:27

All of them ABU.
House warming parties are naff.

SuitedAndBootedd · 10/08/2017 11:35

How so @gottagetmoving

House warming parties are naff.

Not if you're called Abigail, Gotta Smile

FanwankTheAbsurd · 10/08/2017 11:38

By Bs logic no one should have a housewarming until they have fully paid off their mortgage, as technically it's not yours until then, the bank/building society has first dibs.

Have fun moving in together and be prepared for people bringing lots of plants 💐🏠

NapQueen · 10/08/2017 11:40

Shown herself not worth wasting an invite then.

CoughLaughFart · 10/08/2017 11:43

Ignore Friend B (and the misery who said housewarming parties were naff) and enjoy your party.

SuitedAndBootedd · 10/08/2017 11:47

@FanwankTheAbsurd well I hope so because I plan on spending a small fortune buying plants Grin
