To think this screaming Audi woman was the one in the wrong?!

clarabellb · 09/08/2017 18:24

Some woman going crazy as if I nearly caused an accident but I think she was actually in the wrong???

So I need to know if it is actually me that's wrong and perhaps change the way I drive if I am.

You can see from the diagram there are three roads on this roundabout. I was going to take my first exit, she was going to take her second.

So, I went as nothing in the exit to my right. But she drove straight over the top of the roundabout and almost into the side of my car. Then started going crazy at me.

It was just a slightly raised painted white circle in the road if this makes any difference?

I await the verdict of the MN jury.

Thanks

I have to agree that there are many lousy Audi drivers about. Sometimes I feel ashamed to be seen getting into mine!

LemonRedwood · 09/08/2017 19:23

user Verulam Road isn't confined to St Albans! (It's the Papa Johns that gave it away Blush)

BumWad · 09/08/2017 19:25

I wish we had a PapaJohns

Amanduh · 09/08/2017 19:26

I know this roundabout well and people are always doing this every day I go down the road... they don't even bother to look! Twats. Happens at all the roundabouts along the Hatfield Road as well...

Madbengalmum · 09/08/2017 19:31

Sounds like the Audi driver was in the wrong, however, I can't help wondering why it is asumed that every Audi driver is stupid or aggressive in some way. Never been wronged by anyone driving another make of car?

TheNaze73 · 09/08/2017 19:33

Those double roundabouts at the Hatfield Road are a nightmare Amanduh. That whole stretch to the Gonorrhea is shocking.
She was definitely in the wrong but, I don't think it's all Audi drivers.
I think moaning at Audi, BMW & Merc drivers is the politics of envy sometimes

clarabellb · 09/08/2017 19:38

I have nothing against Audi drivers, my dad drove one and he was a very sensible driver. It was just an observation on my part...the offending vehicle as it were!

Ah 'he who dares wins' roundabouts.* But in your case OP you were in the right.

I have an Audi, just a little A1Abut people do seem to drive aggressively around me, much mores than when I am in the smax. It is almost as if they are trying to goad me.

  • that is because you so often get the situation where no one really has the right of way.
MrsPinkCock · 09/08/2017 21:14

I bloody hate mini roundabouts.

We have a double mini roundabout close to our house . I've been hit once by an eejit van driver who wanted to go straight across both and ended up hitting my car (my right of way).

I swear double mini roundabouts make people completely panic and lose all road sense.

dontbesillyhenry · 09/08/2017 21:20

Shockwhat???

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 09/08/2017 21:28

Those roundabouts dont really count as roundabouts wrt right of way

Yes, they do.
A mini roundabout has the same rules as a big one.
Give way to car to your right.
Drive round them not over them

WinchestersInATardis · 09/08/2017 21:29

Yup, you were right. She was bonkers. Weirdly, I saw an almost-accident today where it was no doubt that the angry shouty person was in the wrong (changed lanes without looking, almost forcing other car off the road). I think they thought the other car shot up behind when they were half way across the lane but the fact is that they just didn't look. Car was there the whole time.

GladAllOver · 09/08/2017 23:08

WTF do you think they are for? They are there precisely to show who has right of way. That's their purpose! The only reason they are 'mini' is that there is not room for a full size roundabout that might restrict larger vehicles from turning.

Madwoman5 · 09/08/2017 23:45

It is a roundabout....you go around it, not over it. Screaming woman needs a copy of the highway code.

e1y1 · 10/08/2017 00:16

YABU, Everyone knows Audi drivers, are selfish, arrogant bastards.

There is a whole separate driving test for Audi drivers, and indicators come as optional (and never asked for) extras.

AUDI = Another useless driver inside.

PaintingByNumbers · 10/08/2017 16:26

Well, you can argue that, but that's not what happened when my friend had a crash on one, in pretty similar circumstances, insurers refused to count it as other driver fault and told her that. So you can be right all you want, and insist its your right of way, but in a crash, its not going to go your way.

PaintingByNumbers · 10/08/2017 16:27

HHH3 · 10/08/2017 18:39

I'm really confused. If that's the roundabout by papa johns then it's not a slightly raised painted white circle. It's a raised roundabout with poles/posts on it.

Ferrisday · 10/08/2017 19:13

If she's going left before she gets to you then you're not in her way- what on earth is she screaming about?
But if she's coming from your left, even 2 roads away, you have to give way

emilybrontescorset · 10/08/2017 19:21

I read the title as ALDI woman and thought what is happening in Aldi lately?!!!
Anyhow now I realise it says Audi driver, you are right and she is wrong.
I have carried out a non scientific test in my head and can confirm that out of all drivers who are assholes, approximately 50% of them drive Audi's!!!!!

Amanduh · 11/08/2017 18:36

The gonorrhoea = the galleria Grin

ElsieMc · 11/08/2017 18:47

You had right of way op. Around a month ago, taking my gs's (one a teenager) out for the evening with my dh, a young woman did similar to us with the associated screaming, gesticulating and the customary one finger. If you are going to do that, just make sure you can get away. Unfortunately for her, we pulled up level with her at a red light. She hid her red face whilst we all stared at her - we were feet apart! What a loser.

fourfuckssake4 · 11/08/2017 19:31

Can we also comment on 'insignia drivers. Big bloody (never seen off roadHmm) 4x4 who's driver thinks they need the whole fucking road as they can't judge the size of the effing thing( why is there not a 'pissed off emoji??) Taxi drivers Angry why do they think they can stop, piss about wherever they want! And don't get me started on van tailgaters. Ok, rage over Grin gets back to point of thread, Audi was in the wronge Wine for you op

DadDadDad · 11/08/2017 19:55

HHH3 - exactly, the Hitchin roundabout indicated by OP's second post is this one, and it would have been quite a stunt to drive over it!

To think this screaming Audi woman was the one in the wrong?!
clarabellb · 11/08/2017 20:09

I am mistaken with the roundabout it would appear. It is Hitchin (I am totally namechanging after this, haha) but I haven't lived here very long, I was on my way to the train station (from town) and it was the one before (attached 3), the one I had originally thought I was on (attached 1) I was clearly mistaken. Perhaps my mouth was wide open in wtf mode from that roundabout to the next one (road is attachment 3). Genuinely didn't mean to mislead anybody. Smile And we were both still 'facing each other' if that makes sense, north and south say, and east and west were clear...now I'm rambling!!!
