To think this screaming Audi woman was the one in the wrong?!

Some woman going crazy as if I nearly caused an accident but I think she was actually in the wrong???

So I need to know if it is actually me that's wrong and perhaps change the way I drive if I am.

You can see from the diagram there are three roads on this roundabout. I was going to take my first exit, she was going to take her second.

So, I went as nothing in the exit to my right. But she drove straight over the top of the roundabout and almost into the side of my car. Then started going crazy at me.

It was just a slightly raised painted white circle in the road if this makes any difference?

I await the verdict of the MN jury.

Thanks

Imincognito - well that's the funniest part. It's pouring with rain here so our windows were up and she's screaming and making a face and waving her arms and I have no idea what she was saying....but I don't think it was 'sorry' Shock

I have an Audi and have never driven over a roundabout. I did once drive into the ordering post at KFC drive thru once mind

Oh god mini roundabouts!!! So so many people cannot use them, don't signal, fly into it at speed just cause the person in front has gone through, or stop and look at you even if it's their right of way.
Drives me nuts.

OhTinky · 09/08/2017 18:55

I know this roundabout! I've never seen anyone drive over it before, so she is doubly wrong!

sparkleandsunshine · 09/08/2017 18:55

My DP was pulled over by the police for contravening a mini roundabout! It's not legal and she's in the wrong 👍🏼

CandleWithHair · 09/08/2017 18:56

So, I went as nothing in the exit to my right

OP maybe I'm reading this incorrectly but if you were taking the first exit, that would be on your left (I.e the road Screaming Audi Woman was coming out of). If you went RIGHT around the mini roundabout to reach it as your post seems to be saying then yes, you were 100% in the wrong.

Surely that's not what happened tho.... is it?

EggysMom · 09/08/2017 18:59

I can't tell which road you were coming from, when you say you were taking your first exit; nor where she was coming from, when you say she was taking her second exit. Sorry. Am I being dense?

EggysMom · 09/08/2017 18:59

Ignore me - I hadn't read the labelling!!!!

LordBuckley · 09/08/2017 19:00

You've misunderstood her post (as I did the first time I read it).

She means "So I went, as there was nothing coming from the exit on my right".

Unrelated to your situation but thought I'd share! Today we (me, husband and daughter) were turning right at a tiny roundabout - 1 lane only as it was a shopping centre car park - when the car behind suddenly shot past us. They'd decided to go the wrong way round the roundabout to cut out having to go all the way round. Not only illegal but nearly hit us. Think there are just some very angry dangerous people about in their cars!

catkind · 09/08/2017 19:03

I was told it's okay to drive over mini roundabouts - provided there's no other traffic around. So woman wbu.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 09/08/2017 19:04

I saw a near collision not so long ago caused by another driver driving over the mini roundabout instead of around it (he almost broadsided the other car which was in no way at fault). They are not to be driven over!.

You were not at fault OP; the other driver was.

TacoFlavouredKisses · 09/08/2017 19:06

SAWWBU

You treat a mini roundabout as you do a regular roundabout, you wouldn't drive over the top of a big grassy roundabout (although it might be fun), you had right of way, she was wrong.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 09/08/2017 19:08

catkind

You have been informed wrongly.

Section 188 of the Highway Code is all about mini-roundabouts. You should apply the same rules to approaching and entering mini-roundabouts as you would normal roundabouts. It is important to remember that all vehicles must pass round the central markings, unless they are too large to do so.

You will find that when driving around mini-roundabouts there is less room to manoeuvre and less time to signal, so take extra care.

LemonRedwood · 09/08/2017 19:09

CandleWithHair OP says nothing in the road to her right because you give way to the right. So she's correct to be checking that as well as her exit.

OP, I know this roundabout and junction (town beginning with H?) and you were correct. Lots of people drive straight over the white part of a mini roundabout even though they should be going around, most manage to do it without almost hitting someone else though.

user53592952153 · 09/08/2017 19:11

That's got to be St Albans?

misses point of thread

ExplodedCloud · 09/08/2017 19:14

You were driving correctly. Even if she was supposed to be taking the 2nd exit (the road you were coming out of?) then you couldn't have been in her way as you were on her driver's side at all times.

Eusebius · 09/08/2017 19:15

OP it looks like you were in the wrong 100%. The other woman was to your right. It seems you didn't look properly before pulling out to turn left hence why she almost crashed into you.

Hope you're okay?

WooWooSister · 09/08/2017 19:15

On the basis of the diagram then the Audi woman was in the wrong.
But, there's a mini-roundabout like that on a road near us and on the approach there are road signs which give priority to one direction because it's a narrow road. I'm assuming that's not the case here.

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 09/08/2017 19:16

A round about (even the small ones) need adhering to the usual rules. Had you have crashed then the accident would have been deemed her fault as she drove over it

Glittertwins · 09/08/2017 19:17

Since neither of you would have crossed paths following the road correctly, I would have said she was in the wrong as she cut the junction. She should not have been in your path.
Ps Hitchin?

PuppyMonkey · 09/08/2017 19:19

Youre 100% in the right OP. I mean left, no right, no left. Grin

There's a mini roundabout near me where I sometimes drive over it Blush - but i promise I don't scream at anyone or nearly crash into their car.

PuppyMonkey · 09/08/2017 19:20

Eusebius - eh? Confused
