it sounds like a voice changer doesn't it?? just trying to work something out... i am a bit worried about dd. she shares monologues with this 'boy' because they both do drama and im a bit worried about it.

I'd have guessed that to be a woman somewhere between 20-36 without further qualification, but I do think it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it's a young teenage boy.

The problem for me is that the voice has a certain depth and maturity, but without being "broken", so it sounds a bit weird.

LittleMissMankyPants · 08/08/2017 18:36

Sounds like Diana reincarnate as a very effeminate public school boy.

ShoesHaveSouls · 08/08/2017 18:37

I have teen boys too - I've never heard one sound like that.

Sounds like an adult woman to me.

scottishdiem · 08/08/2017 18:40

There were a couple of boys at my school whose voices didnt break until 15/16. They sounded a lot like this. Also, its a prepared text for drama so there will be elements that sound off as he will be reading as a character which changes how we sound.

scottishdiem · 08/08/2017 18:42

Listen to the vowels. Pretty much every one is a male voice. The rest of the words and sounds dance around it but the vowels are male.

GreatFuckability · 08/08/2017 18:44

I think that could easily be a teenage boy.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 08/08/2017 18:45

Sounds like a woman to me. No way is that a boy.

timeforheroes · 08/08/2017 18:50

Definitely could be a teenage boy. I teach in secondary and there are plenty of boys that sound like that. Especially those involved in drama who are taught to enunciate and project.

WeDONTneedanotherhero · 08/08/2017 18:50

Sounds like a softly/well spoken teenage boy to me

MsJamesDeanBradfield · 08/08/2017 18:50

Can't believe so many people can hear a woman's voice. Shock

100% teenage boy to me.

Ikeatears · 08/08/2017 18:52

Reminds me of Ben from Outnumbered

Notmyrealname85 · 08/08/2017 18:55

Could be a teenage boy except for the delivery - the pace.

Am I out of the loop or is the content weird? Only reason I say is this teen is saying how they don't fit in as the new kid - but that could be a typical theme for an adult to use if they wanted common ground with a teen.

Also the stuff he references - my teenage neighbours aren't into Star Trek etc enough to wear any tshirts with it. Seems to not quite hit the right note?

justicesign · 08/08/2017 18:56

seems very mixed then... i did think woman but with a voice changer because it sounds deep but then that seems to be quite normal? i think i will have to just keep telling dd to be safe.

I've just played it with my 13 year old daughter in the room, she thinks it could be a teenage boy, I'd say definitely a woman.

Yorkshirelassie · 08/08/2017 19:44

Work in a school, in my experience could easily be a boy...

MunchMunch · 08/08/2017 20:03

My first time listening I was convinced woman.

I asked ds2 (7) and dd (9) what they thought - ds2 said woman dd said teenage boy and all of a sudden I could hear a softly spoken teenage boy Confused

Floellabumbags · 08/08/2017 20:09

A goody goody posh boy

Brown hair, side parting, slightly overweight, always wears correct school uniform.

LoyaltyAndLobster · 08/08/2017 20:12

Just listened to it again... 100% teenage boy.

SmileEachDay · 08/08/2017 20:15

It's a teenage boy doing his next to sound how he thinks a monologue should sound, so slightly pretentious, slightly over enunciated.

I bet he's the male lead in the end of year musical productions

Having said that, communicating with anyone you don't know in real life is a terrible, terrible idea. Please tell her not to, unless she can verify that he's actually who he says he is.

SmileEachDay · 08/08/2017 20:16

*doing his best

peachgreen · 08/08/2017 20:20

Agreed with @Ikeatears - sounds like Ben from Outnumbered. Teenage boy. But always best to keep an eye on it regardless!

PhoenixMama · 08/08/2017 20:55

I've listened to hundreds of samples like this in audition situations and def a teenage boy to me. It's in the sounds made where there's a slight delay when his lips meet. That gets worn out as you get older.

mycatdoesntlovemeanymore · 08/08/2017 21:01

I just played this and asked my dh and he said it sound like a woman in 20's

isawahatonce · 08/08/2017 21:12

It sounds like it's been sped up? Maybe that's why it sounds a bit more high pitched and feminine?
