Who pushed that woman over into the path of a bus.

What a complete and utter wanker - who the hell does that?

Thank goodness she was OK (physically at least- she'll probably be rather nervous about walking along the pavement now Sad

How can it be an excuse?!

FerretsAreFeminists · 12/08/2017 13:55

He got off because he's white and rich

Or maybe he wasn't the one who did it.

Yeh yeh of course. He got off because he's white and British. It's a conspiracy. Nothing to do with the fact that he wasn't in the country.

Increasinglymiddleaged · 12/08/2017 14:04

I imagine that there is a whole lot more to this man being located and arrested than just 'the cctv man looks like him'. There are hundreds if not thousands of male joggers that look very much like him.

He's probably a dislikeable character which made people think of him. It doesn't make him guilty, however.

CaretakerToNuns · 12/08/2017 14:58

When I hear conclusive evidence that he was out of the country then I'll believe it, else it just sounds like an awfully convenient excuse that, combined with his privilege, would get him off easily.

In fact it wouldn't surprise me if no one else gets arrested and it goes down as an unsolved case.

Gorgosparta · 12/08/2017 15:00

There are reports he has been cleared and was out of country at the time

OnionKnight · 12/08/2017 15:03

Why don't some posters understand that sometimes the police arrest the wrong person? Or is it easier to moan about privilege and conspiracy?

Gorgosparta · 12/08/2017 15:05

caretaker you dont get to hear the proof. Thats not your right. The police have seen the proof. Thats all that needs to happen.

You can not label someone as guilty, because they are a male, white or rich.

Increasinglymiddleaged · 12/08/2017 15:05

Well the police believe it caretaker As a liberal country we generally go on innocent until proven guilty rather than 'guilty if named in the media until proven innocent'.

I think it's highly unlikely they'll find him tbh regardless as it could literally be anyone. Medium height middle aged slightly overweight bloke with brown hair.

Happytobefree17 · 12/08/2017 15:08

I think if the police have a lot of resources given to them for this case, they would be able to trace him via street cctv following his route. It's a question of how much time and money this case is afforded.

Coconutspongexo · 12/08/2017 15:09

I don't think it's fair that this man has been named without being charged, I don't think anyone should ever be named without being charged.

There are people like some posters who will believe this man is guilty despite the police.. those qualified to do this job have decided he can't have pushed the lady.

squoosh · 12/08/2017 15:11

Was it the police who released his name?

Increasinglymiddleaged · 12/08/2017 15:27

The thing is happy I can't really see how that will help, unless there is actual footage of him going into where he lives/ works.

Rubyredslippers44 · 12/08/2017 17:30

According to news reports in the last few hours, Eric has been cleared and the search continues.

Someone must know who this person is and it's only a matter of time before he's found. Fulham is a very residential area, especially that part of Fulham. He could have children and be married. He would be known to many people and also known to jog at that time of morning in similar clothing.

If he had the balls (and stupidity) to run back over the same bridge he just assaulted someone only minutes earlier, I doubt he stopped his jogging route/routine until this story broke in the media. He must be a familiar face locally.

I hope he's caught soon. He's caused so much trouble.

HelenaDove · 12/08/2017 17:36

Hes also just watched someone else be arrested for what HE did yet stayed quiet.

Gorgosparta · 12/08/2017 17:40

I wonder what reactions will be if he is a working class man, from some on this thread.

HelenaDove · 12/08/2017 17:44

My reaction would be the same Gorgo. I was abused in the street by plenty of working class men when i was 10 stone heavier .

Hatred of women goes across all classes.

Lucysky2017 · 12/08/2017 17:45

I did wonder at the time if the police rushed to this after the plebgate stuff and because they are so working class and anti banker.... anyway at least he's been cleared but why arrest him in the first place if it was so clearly provable he was out of the country? In my view he now has a right under the Right to be Forgotten Google case under EU data protection law to have his named removed from every bit of media in the EU. I woudl try to go for that if I were he.

The real pusher now needs to be found. If he pushed her his DNA will be on her clothes presumably.

WellThisIsShit · 12/08/2017 17:46

I hope this doesn't just fizzle out because they got the wrong person first time. As another poster said, there will be someone who will recognize this person.

Given the reputation of that police force and the unexplained few months of delay, the arrest appears fine but then the name release of a man who wasn't even in the country... it just doesn't sound terribly well organized.

Yes I know I'm making assumptions, and I really hope I'm wrong, but I can well imagine the crime being downgraded and ignored for many of the reasons in this thread, and the victim having to really push to get anyone to take it seriously.

Ah well, I guess we won't know about that at the moment.

Let's not take our eye off the key focus here... a woman was attacked, shockingly and very nearly fatally if her head had gone into or under that bus. And someone did this. Someone who needs to face justice. And I hope the search will be continued, because letting this type of attack just go is a very unpalatable idea.

Gorgosparta · 12/08/2017 17:48

My reaction would be the same Gorgo. I was abused in the street by plenty of working class men when i was 10 stone heavier

I am sure most would. However some seemed to gloat over the fact he was a banker and claimed they could have predicted it, when they assumed he was guilty. One still thinks it him and he just got off because he was white and had money.

I never said male violence does cross the classes. Some here, however, seem to think it does.

Gorgosparta · 12/08/2017 17:50

doesnt cross all classes

HelenaDove · 12/08/2017 17:57

Wellthisis............................Operation Sapphire springs to mind.....

HelenaDove · 12/08/2017 18:01

LucySky thats rubbish. I live in social housing and two years ago the police refused to attend when a snake got into my property. In my KITCHEN. "not our job" Fair enough i thought.

But then when someone in Hampstead got immediate police attendance when the same breed of snake turned up in his GARDEN you do wonder if class comes into it.

HelenaDove · 12/08/2017 18:03

Oh and i dialled 101 not 999 before anyone starts.
